I just did the 50k service on my truck, where they had done some software updates. Noticed that I can no longer set my default charge limit in the app nor can I set my default limit in the truck without setting a location. Am I missing something?

We've always had two methods, one is temporary per charge/drive cycle the other is recurring and has always been tied to a location based profile.

Recreating the location based profile is more easily done in the truck on the Sync Charging App screens.

To add: the location-based settings only apply to L1 or L2 AC charging.

I never had to tie a location to the charge limit before, I cannot see why I can't keep my global 90% limit no matter where. I have been doing that since I have owned the truck. I routinely bounce between job locations, that aren't always going to be the same places. So why do need to need to remember to either set that location, or keep setting the one time charge?

All I can say is that when I've L1/L2 charged at alternate locations be they public, private, free or for a fee, the truck was inclined to charge immediately and if I let it continue long enough would to go 100%.

The first year I had the truck, our trip to New Hampshire, we plugged into my brother in laws 14-50 outlet which he purposely set up just for us, he's paranoid that we might not have the juice to get home.

While I was charging the trucking indicated how long it projected to charge to 100%, while it continued to charge I created a location based charging scheme with hour time frames and a SOC limit, saved it with a custom name. This profile is only good for that location.

This profile was in addition to my "Home" profile.

If you're on the road a lot with access to various level two charging sites, simply create the scheme for that spot with unlimited times but cap the SOC to your preferences, do it for all your common stopping & charging locations, as you revisit them in the future they should automatically invoke the limits.

Also note there is an on/off switch in the Sync Charging App for location based limitations, I could have umpteen rule/schemes, but if the switch is [OFF] none of the rules will take control.

Double check your settings and usage of the master on/off switch.

Maybe I have been riding a glitch or something, because like I mentioned no matter where I went it capped out at 90% because that is where I had set the limit when I first picked up the truck. And I have dropped it down to 60% a few times and changed it back to 90%. I changed it on the charging page and had a slider bar of the fordpass app. Which both seem to be gone after my 50k service.

The Lightning has a fast charging limit of 90%, in the truck, which you can override. It never had an overall 90% limit.

I may be incorrect, but it seems like the location limit was added with an update, which you may not have had until they updated it for you. ??

DCFC will stop at 90% unless you tell it to go farther. Level 2 has always gone to 100% unless you set up a charging location and limit. It's been that way since the beginning. There is no way to set a universal charge limit.

Only use L1/L2 charging, at home and job locations. Maybe I am just having a self imposed Mandela effect. But I also have no saved locations on the app nor in the truck, because I never had to set a location before.

You can set a 1 time charge limit anywhere and it works until you power off and restart.

If you're concerned with excessive SOC on a frequent basis, get these locations setup once and forget about them.

Just remember the GPS location has been found to be sensitive, if a worksite or commercial lot with multiple locations, you might need to build a new rule for each parking position.
