Here is the setup we currently have. Already has wiring for 100A run from our panel. Plan is to swap the disconnect for a sub panel and add the FCSP set at 40A in parallel with the existing EVSE so the wife and I can charge at the same time.

Makes me sad you will have 80A capacity right there and never be able to access with your Lightning. I think I'd only prioritize charging both at the same time if both vehicles daily commute is more than around a third of their range, which might be your situation. Either way, I don't hold it against you 😀.

I know nothing about electrical,
And am still trying to figure out if I might have 80 amp coming to my garage by chance.

I found this junction box in the garage that appears to be there to feed the baseboard electric heat on the other side of the wall.

anyone know what baseboard heat needs for amps ?

I have 200 panel, so I think I’m set there.
I just need to get enough electrical into the garage, which is separated from the main house where the panel is, with a slab concrete addition put on in the 80’s.

maybe this junction box means they laid a pipe under the slab to feed in wiring, which maybe I can snake through that same pipe to get the needed wiring to the Charge Station Pro ?

White Romex in your junction box picture is an indicator of a 15 amp 110V circuit. If it is 12 gauge wire then it would be a 20 amp 110V circuit.

Not quite the 2 gauge or 3 gauge three conductor wire that you will need to support an 80 amp 240V circuit.

I went back and forth over the best option. Originally was planning to swap out the Grizzl-e with the FCSP, but have 2 EVSEs will be easier to manage and will let us keep them both plugged in to warm the battery in the winter.

I posted in a previous thread and will summarize; With two EVs (Lightning+Volt), the plan I have is to move the 32A Clipper Creek to a secondary parking spot, but run 100A conduit/wire to it so I can replace it in future with an 80A EVSE for an EV that replaces the Volt.

I will also run conduit/wire for the FCSP to the primary parking spot, and then install it once I get it. Plan is waiting for a build week:(

I installed a plywood board next to the garage fridge and mounted a j1772 mobile charger for the BMW and a Tesla one for the model 3. I had spare 240v dryer and RV outlets in the garage (both on their own circuits) so I just ran 10/3 extension cables to the board. Charges each car overnight, haven’t ever needed more than that. We’ll probably sell the BMW after the Lightning gets here (because the range is quite low) so I’ll just use the same setup to charge the truck…don’t think I will need more than that. If the truck doesn’t fit in the garage I’ll just run the charger cord under the garage door.

Here’s the ChargePoint plus I installed for my wife’s Tesla last year.. should do the job just fine. Charges at 48amps on a 60amp breaker. I had sunrun come out to see about installing the Ford package but honestly I have solar and 3 tesla power walls so I see no point. I’ll be selling my Ford charger when it arrives.

thanks, the pictures were very helpful.

Definitely have a better idea for what I’m up against trying to snake 2 gauge wiring through the pipe that feeds into that junction box.

maybe I rewire what’s already running through that pipe, to give a better chance of fitting the run through.

much appreciated!

Try a Conduit Fill Calculator as you may not be safe running it in too small of a conduit. If it is just plumbing pipe, the burrs can cut the insulation.

You may be better off running #4 copper.

I think the color coding of romex started a little over 20 years ago. If his wiring is older then that it could be something heavier than 14 gauge but still not heavy enough for the Charge Station Pro.

The Ford Pro charger will go in my garage when I can get it from sunrise . My pole barn will hold my lightning this is the charger I have with them . is a electrify America home.

Is there any charger that can monitor how much power is pulling through main and lower the usage if the rest of the house has a high usage level? ie just because you have 200 amp service doesn't mean you will always have 80 amps free
