So with it starting to get colder, I've been starting my truck via the Ford Pass app in the mornings when it's not plugged in. I've consistently noticed that when I do this, the user profile changes to 'Guest'. I've done a few tests where I haven't used the app to start it and it keeps my normal user profile.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? I'm on Ford Power-Up 6.3.0. I don't know how long its been doing this behavior as I've only used it as the temperature has dropped. I've never noticed it before, but I could have missed it.

Has always done this off and on for me. I tend to notice because my guest account has the brake hold on and mine does not.

This is a known bug with all Ford products. Starting via FordPass over cellular will put the vehicle in guest profile. Starting the vehicle via FordPass within Bluetooth range will put it in the user profile.

Improvements hopefully coming

This is due to technical limitations of the non-Bluetooth communication - the information as to which “key” is being used isn’t there. Remote start doesn’t use a key, and a key must be known in order to select the profile associated with a key.

I wouldn’t count on this changing.

Doesn't seem like it would be that hard to link a profile in the truck to a FordPass account.

No, it doesn’t seem like would be hard. But I’m not holding my breath. Profiles are currently attached only to keys.

Thanks for the info. Seems pretty silly bug but surely not high on the priority list. You'd think it would default to the previous profile used. Good to know I'm not going nuts.

This happened to me after a FordPass update. I found out that the account on my phone became unlinked with my truck. Go through the setup using Sync system in truck like it's a new account and it should work again.

It will only work if your phone is close enough to connect via Bluetooth.

My suggestion was in response to the original question. When I start my truck in the morning I'm not connected to bluetooth and the truck loads the correct profile. We are likely connected to same wifi network, but I've done this plenty of times while camping.

Tap your seat position recall button when you jump in and notice your custom profile is not selected on the screen, or just tap it by nature everytime you jump in after using remote start.

Or make it extremely obvious by making your profile dark theme and guest the default light theme.

It would be quite easy to associate the profile with the key when the driver enters the truck with the PaaK or KeyFob since they are already associated with a profile.

Yeah, but I still stand by my last sentence…..I doubt anything changes.

Yes, it definitely takes Ford a while. Although not fast, they are making improvements. The profile thing is an important one since OPD makes a significant difference in how the truck operates and is hence a safety issue. It should be moved up on the priority. Profiles are linked to keys so this one is a no-brainer.
