I designed this version and I'm happy to answer any questions anyone might have!
I was getting ready to pull apart my console so I could CAD something up, thanks for putting the STEP files up on Thingiverse!

By the way, I expanded on the original fB post a little bit to add a couple more photos and a link to a quick video I made today at work going through some of the questions I got. Here's a link to that in case anyone might benefit:

What build volume dimensions are needed? I am currently shopping for a new printer :)

Congrats on printer shopping, that's fun! So, 1) I've heard Bambu is getting ready to release something new 😏, and 2) my volume is 300x300x300 (pretty sure that's right, K1 Max).

I've seen a couple questions about whther or not this could be sliced to print in two pieces. I'm sure it could tbh, but I would worry about nasty seam lines. If I get a chance this weekend, I might play around with it some more to see if a good slicing profile can be found.

My printer is large enough to print this, so I haven't looked at other options, but you could also check out pcbway.com or jlcpcb.com , they offer 3D printing services and you could get them to 3D print this for you.

edit: okay JLCPCB is over $150 (before shipping), so that's kind of a pricey option.

I have a Bambu P1S, but i think this is too big to print on a normal 256mm x 256 x 256 print bed.
Here you go, this is a angle orientated version of the original for Bambu X1 or PS1 printer in a 3MF format (no changes, just straight from Thingaverse). It should fit your PS1 build volume (I'm printing it now on a X1 using the attached file).

The side effect of upright printing, the quality better. 3d printers produce a better quality top surface, when the top is orientated on the side. Side layers print much smoother! When you see lots of rings or lines at the top of a part, that’s the final layer….depending on the part being printed, it might be ok…or might require post processing to get it smooth.. Ya it sounds weird, but it works. :)

I have not figured out the best way to print the lid/cover. I think orientate it sideways with tree supports would work good; then the top would be smoother off the printer. I don't think you can print face down, as it has a slight curve.

If someone was to modified the lid part, and flattened the top, a 3d texture plate would be a cool idea.... carbon fiber texture!

PS. If your printer can handle higher bed temps, you might want to print in ASA verses ABS. ASA is stronger, and more UV resistant. PS1 and X1 can print ASA no problem. Overture ASA on Amazon is really good. Make sure to have proper ventilation with ABS and ASA, as they off-gas toxic fumes.

I printed the lid bottom down originally FYI. I might be able to add a flat topped lid variant to my thingiverse post. Should be pretty quick.

that would be awesome if you could make a flat version too! I’m not good at CAD, I just print a lot!

I just ordered a carbon fiber plate, good excuse to try it out!!

im going to try printing the lid on its side next, will post results. Main part is nearly done…10 hour printing :)

Ps. you’re a master with this, a huge thank you for all the time and effort! I hate my shifter. Amazing truck, and absolute horrible shifter. This is an amazing project!
