2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
Never going back on the pickup, but still have a couple of other ICE vehicles that don't have good EV alternatives.

Looking to replace our Ford Explorer (which has been the perfect family vehicle). We drove a Rivian R1S which was nice, but my wife hated one pedal mode driving.

And still looking to replace the Corvette soft top. Need an electric convertible sports car with a trunk that can hold golf clubs that costs under $100k (and is not a Tesla).
Don't need 2 sec 0-60. Just need open air driving in something a little sporty.

I would never go back but I would also never go exclusively EV. Maybe someday but not this day.

I agree, and always encourage anyone who is resistant to just give it a try for a couple days
One pedal driving is one of the top benefits of EV driving.
It simplifies driving by not having to move your foot back between throttle and brake constantly, and it’s a safety benefit with immediate deceleration.
Sounds small but is a total game changer.
Also makes downhill, mountain driving and trailer towing so effortless.

I wonder who funded McKinsey for the study?

I guess they need more contracts to pay for the $650M settlement helping pharmaceutical companies target users with Opioids by "misbranding".

Again I wonder who is funding the "misbranding" of EV's and helping them "turbocharge" the sales of ICE vehicles which have been seeing market erosion, year over year.

I love my 22 Lightning Lariet I don’t really take it on long trips but it is just so comfortable. I still have another vehicle which is a hybrid. They all have their place.

You forget how horrible gas stations are until you have to get a few cans of diesel for the tractor (in an EV!). Never going back. Would be all EV if there were a single cab long bed EV pickup made by anybody.

I have replaced most of my gas tools with electric, including the chainsaw. I have yet to have to break out my Stihl. The electrics are not quite as powerful as my gas tools but are good enough, and way way way less hassle to get going. We had a tree come down in last week’s windstorm and it was so nice to just grab the electric and put a battery in rather than messing about with a gas saw trying to get it to start. It is also really quiet which is nice for many reasons.

Available today, you could buy an E-Transit Chassis Cab and an up-fitter could put a 10' or 12' drop-side box on the back. (A very popular configuration in Europe instead of pickups for tradesman).

Payload is impressive at over 4400 lbs, but it would have a small battery (119 mile highway range) and only be rear-wheel drive.

Same on the diesel for the tractor.
I also haul a 50 gallon gas tank in the Lightning for fueling my boats and a pair of Sea Doos.

Going to be a long time before the boats get replaced by electric. Each Sea Doo holds 15 gallons which can be burned by a teenager in about 2 hours of aggressive riding. Replacing the 15 gallon gas tank would need a 200 kwh battery that weighs < 100 lbs (1/20th the weight of current EV batteries)

Our household is all EV. We'll never go back to straight ICE if given the choice.

Over the last 20 years I have progressed through hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full EV.

Just bought a second EV, the Ford F150 Lightning! Both the wife and I agree, no more ICE cars.

They‘re like going back into the Stone Age……noise, vibration, heat, fumes, rev-ing, shifting, drive train slack, brake dust, oil changes, tune ups And gas pumps. NO Thanks!

Our F150 Lightning is a delight. Driven conservatively it delivers the range and efficiency thats advertised and is better than I expected. I know how to exploit what these cars are capable of. And it’s quite fun rewarding to drive them.
We are a 3-EV household now. We went through the Hybrid phase starting with a '04 Toyota Prius. By the time we were ready to replace it in '15, we hopped straight to the BEVs. My only holdout was on a truck due to how we use the truck...which is it sits in the driveway unless we are hauling something large and heavy, so power and range were key factors.

In August '24, time was up for our '00 Dodge pickup and we took a long and hard look at the EV truck market. I had a CyberTruck reservation from day-1, but the reality of what was delivered did not meet with the expectations of a working truck. Cool tech and super fast, but more of a show truck than a working truck, so it was out. The Rivian RT1 was a contender, but again it was more glitz than grit, so the Lightning was the only truck left standing.

I love, love, love this truck. (Yes, yes, I'm very critical on the forum of Ford's handling of any of the tech and software. That end is a complete poop-show, but the truck itself is as solid as they come.) It is everything that was promised from a physical and performance perspective. I'll never go back to an ICE vehicle.

My dream would be a joint venture Tesla-Ford truck where Ford makes the physical vehicle and Tesla delivers all of the control systems, software, tech, and supporting infrastructure. That would be the best vehicle on the planet.

Have owned Lightning for 16 months and both wife and I love it,my wife decided she wanted an Ev too so purchased a 2024 VW ID4 four months ago,very pleased with it.Also have an Ego zero turn mower.No more ICE vehilcles for us!

I don’t think I’d go back to a Gas vehicle as a daily driver … the lightning has probably spoiled me power wise though lol. I just love the instant acceleration.. no delay.

This is my life too. Getting diesel for the tractor sucks. I have a gas Stihl, but usually use my smaller, battery-operated DeWalt unless I'm cutting firewood. Since we're thinking about installing a fireplace, I'll probably sell the gasser and get the new Stihl battery-operated saw.
