Hi everyone! First time poster but have been following the forum for a while. Love my 2023 Pro extended range, though have noticed an issue recently and wondering if anyone has experienced the same.

In short, when I’m accelerating at about 25-50% power between 47-52 mph, I’ll feel a stuttering/shuddering coming from what feels like the motors. I don’t feel it in the accelerator or steering wheel, rather the whole truck does a bit of a shudder (reminds me of when I would get the rocking thing going in my previous Tacoma long bed when hitting a certain speed on certain highways). It happens on all roadways and in all conditions. Driving in normal mode with one pedal and changing to other modes doesn’t seem to make difference, though I have not played with it extensively in other modes. I should say it is somewhat inconsistent and doesn’t happen always, just seems like within a specific power band during those speeds. I haven’t taken it in for service yet. Has only about 8000 miles on it. Lastly, I’ll mention it is the Pro SSV (special services vehicle) that was originally intended for a fleet/police, etc but the buyer backed out and so I was able to purchase it. It’s an ideal mix of “features” for me with heated front cloth seats, rear vinyl bench (perfect for messy kids/dog) and otherwise just the necessary things while getting the ER battery. Last thing I’ll mention is that I also have a smartcap on the bed with a weight of 330 lbs that is always on.

Please let me know if you’ve experienced similar issues and if you were able to resolve it! Thank you!

Wheels and tires, probably the back if you don't feel it in the steering wheel.

Check for dirt buildup and any visible tire wear. Check wheel nut torque.

Bring it to the dealer if it's not something obvious.

Have you noticed it before you had the bed cap on? I wonder if the smartcap is inducing aerodynamic buffetting at that specific speed which transfers to the entire truck.

You've either got a wheel out of balance or some bad gas.
The only "Bad Gas" I've ever had in my Lightning was after overindulging at the White Castle drive-thru.

The wheel being out of balance makes sense, though surprised it would happen this soon. I haven’t been too hard on the truck, though plenty of drives into the mountains in CO. I was thinking hubs may be the issue as well. Will check those things out.

Good thought about altered aerodynamics with the smart cap. I did notice the issue after putting it on, but I figured I’d notice it at those speeds when coasting at those speeds, which I don’t. Only when accelerating. Goes away almost instantly when I hit 52 mph. Thanks for all your thoughts! Will try rolling down the windows to clear out the bad gas as well ;-)

Does the stuttering happen only while accelerating? Does the stuttering stop immediately after taking your foot off of accelerator? If any of these are yes, it may not be a wheel balance issue, imo.

That’s correct. Only does it when accelerating and stops when I get going over 52mph or so. Interestingly it doesn’t do it when gently accelerating. Seems to only occur when applying about 25-50% power. It will stop if I take my foot off the pedal.

BOOOOM! Finally someone else has this same issue, I have been the only one in any forum to ever speak of this, my truck build is approx july aug 2022 er lariat

it happens in the same range for me its KM 75-85Km not always but often. I have also found that it is 90 percent less with extreme mode (or whatever ford calls it) on

I have had to dealer 3 times and we have even got heated about it at the dealer.

I recently had new Michelin tires put on it and it seem to almost go away but just recently it has reared its ugly head again and the tires only have 4000 km on them

I have argued it cannot be tires because it is only while accelerating and if I coast in 2 pedal mode at those speeds smoooooth.

Also my truck runs near capacity on the onboard scales and wonder is yours is typically loaded? this happens when I take to the dealer empty (with 250 pound fiberglass cab mind you)

Thought I was the only one! Glad I’m not going crazy. Hesitated to post about this for a while since it is inconsistent.

Sounds like you’ve got a fiberglass cap on at all times as well? Interesting that is the case for both of us, though mine is the smartcap and weighs about 330 lbs. My truck doesn’t have onboard scales, but I’m curious, have you played with the tow/haul drive mode or any functions in towing? I’m wondering if setting a “trailer” load of say 500 lbs and driving in tow/haul mode would adjust the settings in a way to compensate for the added weight. I imagine that the front and rear motors are calibrated under “normal” conditions and am wondering if having a constant 200-400 lb load in the bed messes with that in some way. Would be a bummer to drive around in tow/haul mode all the time (maybe…not sure what difference it would make ultimately). In any case, I hope that it doesn’t somehow cause lasting damage to the drivetrain. I have yet to hear back from the service center locally about scheduling an appointment…

if i put in sport mode ( I forgot what they called that mode earlier post) it is almost gone instantly at least 90 percent gone, I was putting in sport mode every time I got in the truck which was very annoying, since the new tires and it seemed to mostly go away I have stopped putting in sport mode and it was a test as well. Because it did seem to go away mostly ( as if I was in sport mode ) with the new tires I stopped putting in sport mode for the last few weeks but as I say it did more or less come back but weirdly not as bad as with he old tires. The dealer did say to me I had a shifted belt in a front tire but again not sure why sport mode would reduce this shuddering by 90 percent so I am not sure if the tires had anything to do with this or not. I feel this is a drive motor or drive motor controller issue but no one else on the planet has had this problem and the dealer just looks at me like I am making this up, even though they too have felt this on test rides with me, they brushed off with road and tires. Has been very frustrating that I have not been able to get any help from the dealer and as I say has got pretty heated at times. I feel as if I will have no choice but to deal the truck sooner than I had expected too but was hoping to wait for the t3 which looks like it is backburner'd for the time being, I can see ford running this line longer than 2025

when I convert 47-52 miles it is almost exactly my 75km -85km speed range that is no coincidence.

Long shot here: Are you in one pedal mode or have you tried to see if this makes a difference?
