Sync4 failure

Day 3 with my lightning I used sync navigation for a trip about and hour away. I have my phone connected via CarPlay and about 10 minutes from my destination I get a teams call and that’s when things went awry. I rejected the call from the steering wheel controls and the sync map screen map went white. I tried changing apps and it had no response. Needing to know where to turn next, I pulled over and after messing with the screen for a while it took some inputs. I was able to cancel navigation but it wouldn’t let me enter the address again because it thought I was still moving. It was still in an odd state with a lot of white blanks on the screen. At that point I gave up and used google maps on my phone to get to my destination. At my destination I stopped the truck via the push button, started again and its still Locked up. So, I went to my event. When I returned and opened the door sync started correctly.

Anyone else see sync issues? Anyone know how to reboot other than waiting it out?

To reboot Sync on Mach-E, it's: On the steering wheel, hold "radio seek right" and "volume down" button at the same time for a few seconds.

Same as @RonTCat said, since it is basically the same screen as the Mach-E it should reset by holding right seek button and volume down button.

Until Ford and Apple work out the Carplay bugs, this likely will occur from time to time.

I have been having issues with Android Auto crashing and then failing to connect after resetting my phone and also sync using the steering wheel control method.

It stays connected via bluetooth so I can still play music through the phone but android auto fails to reconnect.

Think I'll live with it. The trucks pretty awesome, even with this sync crash.

Will bugs ever truly be worked out? I've had to reboot my Model S every few months when it starts doing something weird. You can even do it while driving if you must in a Tesla, I hope Ford has tested the same (I can't imagine why they wouldn't, a crash during driving is one of the most basic use cases).

You can reboot Sync 4A in the Mach-e while driving with no issues. Suspect it is the same in the Lightning. Only needed to do it once so far in 5 months.

Reminds me of my ill gotten Land Rover Discovery Sport I had for 4 years.

The infotainment would blank out, freak out, or just shuts off in the middle of a drive.

Restarting it sometimes helped. Other times it just kept shutting off and staying off.

Service dept had it for over 3 months trying to figure it out and finally ordered a TCU module from the UK. Took a month to have the part shipped from Britain to the US....

Nice to have driven a Range Rover loaner in the meantime but glad gas back then was cheaper than now...

I went to get a haircut this morning, and when I came back to the truck, I hit the start button and the sync 4a screen just went to an animated Ford logo, then after about 10 seconds the screen just went blank. I had no radio/climate/etc. I drove back home, and got out of the truck, locked it and walked away. Came back to it and restarted and it was still black. Came inside to my PC to get on this forum and I found this post. When I went back outside and started it to try the volume down and right seek button reset trick, it just worked like nothing ever happened. Even though it was working again, I decided I'd try the reset with the volume down/right seek and after holding them down 7 seconds, it did reboot the system. I've driven it several more times today since this incident and it's been fine so far. I have about 170 miles on the truck.

I have had to do the reset multiple times on the MME and sure will have to do the same on the Lightning.
