Hey all- starting to experience first hand the impact of average outside temp on range. Thought trying to gather some data would be helpful for anyone wanting/needing to try and estimate what their range will be at certain times of the year or if spending extended amounts of time in areas with significantly different temps. For me, I was pretty surprised with the degree of impact- I'm looking at about a 20+% reduction over an approximate temp swing of about 30 degrees.

I created this Google Docs for us to use to collect the info, and I think the goal would be to ultimately understand what the impact is per degree (or for every 5 degrees) on mi/kwh averages.

that is bigger than I have been seeing. I have been getting 1.7 to 1.8 in ~35 to ~45 degree weather on the highway. I agree on the 2.1 at ~75. Also highway.

I'm hoping I might average out closer to you- combined with the temp drop was CRAZY amounts of rain, so driving 65+ on the highway through standing water I'm sure was not helping.

0% range loss in winter. 340wh is as good as I'm getting in summer if not slightly better
Thank the diesel lords for making diesel heaters

Are you saying (and are those pics of) you're using a diesel heater strapped to the side of your battery?🤨

1.6 is huge loss, did you pre condition before you drive?

Only through departure settings the last couple of weeks. This weekend however I drove about 300 miles, including multiple charge stops, and still only got 1.5 - 1.6 (all highway, 60-70 mph, LOTS of rain/water on the road).

That’s interesting, I’ll get some numbers on my end next week when the cold front hits here in Oklahoma. Temps should be around 28F low and I have not swapped to Toyo tires yet.

Easier to see what data points are expected:
ER/SR Summer TempAvg, mi/kwh; Winter TempAvg, mi/kwh, mi/kwh reduction/5F
3 RainorshinePNW ER__ 75F 2.1 ______ 40F 1.6 ____ 0.07 ... OEM size Toyo AT3
4 TaxmanHog____ ER__ 80F 2.0 ______ 38F 1.9 ____ 0.01 ... AS stock tire

Rain results in lower efficiency for all vehicles.
