These guys make other videos all the time. I saw one while back that was a Ferrari or a Lamborghini that they thrashed. the last scene was in a harvested corn field and it caught fire…….burned to the ground. So 150K……….. doesn‘t really scratch the surface for these chuckle heads

Its obvious he damaged it when he backed into the logs and let it drop off of those concrete pipes before pulling the truck. Not real world usage of a truck but great entertainment.

Since when was hitting something while backing up not a realistic scenario?? When was the last time anyone saw the entire rear structure of a truck jettison from anything?? I think it is a more realistic situation than people are giving them credit for. Sure the actual how is silly. But hitting something or getting rear ended certainly is. Which should not structurally compromise the vehicle.

Flooring it while trying to back your truck up some logs and dropping it off
of some concrete pipes is not something the everyday owner does, Lets not be silly.
How about dropping a 5 ton boulder on top of the truck? Should the truck not be compromised?
What about in a roll over? Should it not be compromised. What he did was not normal usage, It was just destruction for entertainment. He does those things in all of his videos. Judging a trucks durability from Whistling Diesels videos is silly and unrealistic.

I refuse to give these dullards a click.
You are missing out. Try not taking life so seriously and enjoy some light hearted fun, whistlindiesel can be a pretty funny guy when you watch his videos for purely entertainment level value.

LOL, this is the stupidest video in the world and shows CT hate has gone full meme.

A super duty will fail in a tug of war w/ chain with a damn K-Car if the K-Car pulls at it the right way.

All this shows is that 99.9% of the people never off-road and know nothing about recovery. Literally the first thing you learn is to never jerk a chain or anything else that has no give. Everyone who off-roads knows this better than tying their shoe laces.

Video makers knew it too and were going to make one of those bumpers fail which is why they used a chain in a tug of war and a kinetic rope a few shots after.

All they've proven is that one of the bumpers has a failure point. Seeing as neither Ford nor Tesla list "Unlimited tonage" for towing, the jerked chain representing likely now 100,000 lbs in weight thanks to physics and g-forces was of course going to fail, quickly.

sw engineering manager,
Materials that bend instead of crack are often better at absorbing shock loads. The bending and flexing spreads the deceleration out over a longer time and distance, reducing the peak force experienced.

For example, if a truck drops from 6 ft (72 inches) and impacts on something that doesn't flex or bend much it might decelerate in 1/2" and experience 144g's. The "divide by zero" on the deceleration distance is what spikes the g's.

Say instead it it impacts on a steel frame that flexes and bends 4", its only going to experience 18g's on the impact.

There were a couple items of value in all of that destruction porn. The fact that the Tesla factory ran out of nuts and substituted a couple washers and duct tape, huge red flag. The plastic gas pedal make me wonder if it was pre or post recall, cause that's garbage. The ease at which the mirrors were destroyed compared to the F150 would make me worry about even a car wash. I think the biggest WTF for me was those long trim strips that go over the top of the door were just glued on, and poorly at that. I think the undersized compressor might bug some people as well, but it's not like we even have an adjustable height ride without a very expensive 3rd party mod.

and our Lightnings are nowhere near perfect either. I bitch about mine everyday. To myself, because I don't want my friends to know my truck has issues. lol
