last i knew as long as you purchased the warranty before the 3year/36k mile warranty was up you would get the same pricing as if you bought it when the truck was new. i have no plans i buying one untill i decided im 100% keeping the truck. i have time to decide. also, the way the esp works is it might be 5year/100k or whatever but its actually only an additional 2 years since it doesn't actually do anything until the factory warranty expires.
You can purchase the warranty within the 1st 3 years, however "same pricing" only applies for the first 12 months.

I guess what I'm asking is, what is the difference between extended warranty and the factory warranty that comes with the truck?
The base Premium Care is essentially the same, but you can also purchase these add-ons:
  • Key Services
  • Interior/Exterior Lighting
  • Enhanced rental
  • 1st day rental

I just purchased both the warranty and maintenance plan from flood Ford for 8 years and 100k. The total was less than $3k out the door with $0 deductible including the key and bulbs add ons.

What exactly does maintenance plan cover on Lightning?

Not much! But between the brakes and shocks/struts, I think it'll pay for itself. It's mostly just not having to worry about it... I'll just take it in every 10K and let them do tire rotations, top off fluids and change the cabin filter every other time.

If I couldn't replace wiper blades, top off washer fluid, and replace cabin filter myself, someone should just take away my license. Tire rotation can be done by Discount Tire in a fraction of the time the dealer will take. The rest is just "inspect", meaning they don't do anything. :)

But if you are going into it with knowing what you're getting, who am I to argue.

Are you sure?

Ford just recently increased the service plan cost and members on this Forum (who have owned their truck less than 12 months) were rushing to get paperwork filled out in time, and the transaction complete, before the increase occured.

That increase was across the board. The increase at 12 months will still happen. That's why when you fill out the paperwork online, one of the questions is if you owned the vehicle for less than 12 months.

If that increase was across the board then there technically isn't price guarantee for the first 12 months since Ford can change it (across the board) at any time. Right?

So looking at my Ford Warranties. @Granger Ford

Bumper-to-Bumper 3 years / 36,000 Miles
Powertrain 5 years / 60,000 Miles
Electric Vehicle Component 8 years / 100,000 Miles

How does FORD treat EV components such as the onboard charger?
Are they under the B to B, Powertrain or considered an EV Component for 8 years of protection?

I ask because my Tesla PCS Power Conversion System is downgraded to 32 amps max and out of warranty 4/50k, Tesla wants $1650 to fix it so it will charge at 48 amps.

The charger built into the car is an electrical vehicle component.

This booklet may help -

Haha! I'm quite capable of all those things. I've built up/rebuilt a gen 1 ford raptor and have worked on my BMWs for 20 years. That said, I also know that just because I can do it, doesn't make it free or easy. Here's my reasoning behind getting the maintenance plan(and I'm not doing this to belittle anyone, just laying out the math I did to justify it, in hopes it'll help others in similar predicaments).

$250 - Tire rotation every 10K miles - At the cheapest you'll pay $25 for this at a mom and pop place. Most tire shops are $30-50 here if you don't buy the tires from them.

$320 - Wiper blades - OEM blades are $20/each. I usually replace them every season.

$40 - Windshield fluid - I usually go through 1gal a year/vehicle and it's around $5-10 for decent stuff. Ford fluid is double that(though I don't think it's worth it).

$125 - Cabin air filter - Ford recommends replacement at 15-20K miles and they are $25 for the filter.

$240+ - Brade pads - I will definitely need a set of brake pads during 100K of ownership. Even with 1-pedal driving, I tow a bit and drive pretty aggressively.

$640+ - Shocks/Struts - Being that this is a new vehicle that weighs a lot, and I plan on actually using it as a truck regularly by carrying heavy equipment and towing, I'm confident I'll need new struts/shocks in 100K.

Total in parts alone = $1365. Combine that with the labor for tire rotation and you're at $1615.
That's the math I did before I spent the $895 on the maintenance plan. I also know the dealer can charge the vehicle while they have it, so if I drop it off for the day, I'll get it back with whatever needs to be done and with a decent charge. Yes, I could probably get aftermarket stuff from Autozone for a little cheaper... But I want zero arguments from Ford when I go in for a warranty repair and Ford OEM stuff is actually really good. Coming from my raptor, when I've tried to save a few bucks from auto zone or other local stores, it almost always comes back to bite me.

The last part of the equation is my time, which I find to be pretty valuable. Just my $.02.

Tire rotation is free at Discount Tire.
Washer fluid is 99 cents.
Wiper blades last a few years.
Cabin air filter takes 10 minutes to change and is $20.

Some people spend, some people save.
