My dealer offered me an extended warranty to match the 8 year battery warranty, full bumper-to-bumper from Ford, for $2950. Trying to decide if its worth it...seems like a reasonable price...thoughts? I left the dealership without taking him up on the offer, but I think I can still "call it in" and get the same deal since its only been a week-ish since I took delivery.

Yes.

Any Ford dealer in the US. Granger, Ziegler, Flood all offer discounts (may be one or two others).

Any of those work.

I went with Granger because they are transparent (they charge $50 over their cost, that's it) and they have helped multiple members of this forum with vehicle purchases at other dealerships (PCO/Price Protection).

Checked out online and it showed up in my FordPass app within a week.

I went with 7 year/100k miles because 1,200 miles a month is what I average.

Can you use the extended warranty at any Ford dealership?

Yes, it works at any Ford dealer.

It's the exact same as a Ford Extended Service plan your dealer is selling you.

I showed my dealer and they told me to buy from Granger because they couldn't touch that price.

So, does this warranty pick up after the factory warranty expires? How does it work?
Thanks

The Ford's extended warranty picks up from purchase date and 0 mileage.

I guess what I'm asking is, what is the difference between extended warranty and the factory warranty that comes with the truck?

You're essentially buying an extended bumper to bumper for X years over the standard 3 year limited warranty with initial vehicle purchase. The ESP can also cover keys and glass. See attached brochure.

Was discussed at length in a similar thread 2 weeks ago:

last i knew as long as you purchased the warranty before the 3year/36k mile warranty was up you would get the same pricing as if you bought it when the truck was new. i have no plans i buying one untill i decided im 100% keeping the truck. i have time to decide. also, the way the esp works is it might be 5year/100k or whatever but its actually only an additional 2 years since it doesn't actually do anything until the factory warranty expires.

You are correct on the time period to purchase, however, Ford can and recently has raised the price of the warranty plans. I don't think there is price protection on the warranties. I'd expect them to raise the plan price as they see fit.

There was a rush for people to buy their plans from Granger before the most recent price increase.

My (not-trustworthy) dealer wanted $3,600 for the same warranty I got for $1,800.

At least for ICE vehicles, there was one price during 12/12,000, then maybe $100 higher up to 36/36,000, then one more increase up to 41 months /41,000 miles.

Anyone who cares can go to the warranty sites of these dealers, plug in phony months and miles, and get all the pricing they want to.
