This is a big deal. Please read through this carefully.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 25-2048
(Sync) General System Performance, Stability, And Intermittent System Reboot, Intermittent Wireless Apple CarPlay Or Android Auto Function, Phone Related Concerns With Intermittent No Audio Or Static, Navigation/Global Positioning System (GPS) Related Concerns Through Apple CarPlay And Android Auto, Alexa Function Consistency And Stability

24 February 2025

Model: Ford 2021-2024 F-150

Markets: North American markets only

Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit at least one of the following conditions:

• General system performance/stability/intermittent system reboot

• Intermittent wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto function

• Phone related concerns with intermittent no audio or static

• Navigation/GPS related concerns through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

• Alexa function consistency and stability

This may be due to a concern with the software in the APIM.
NOTE: The APIM software update that addresses the symptom listed in this bulletin may have been sent via a software update delivered OTA to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the center display screen. Enter the VIN in PTS and check the OTA Dashboard under the Connected Vehicle tab for OTA update history. If an update to the APIM has successfully completed recently and the customer is reporting the symptoms are no longer present, this article may not apply.

Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the APIM.

You can read the rest of the details in the attachment....the modules that would be updated by this TSB (if updates are available) would be the
  • GWM
  • APIM
  • TCU
  • IPC
  • BCM
  • CMR
  • SCCM
  • IPMA
So it's pretty comprehensive.

Note: Another version of this was also released specifically for the Mach-E (21-24) and it's interesting that in that version they list the 36Ah battery as a part that should be replaced as required, but in the F-150 version the Lightning's same 36Ah battery is not listed, but the ones for the ICE and Powerboost are.

This is a big deal. Anyone that’s struggled with OTA and has “general system performance” issues can now get a lot of most important modules updated courtesy of Ford.

The most exciting for me is that BCM is included since that one provides WAL functionality and I cannot update it myself through FDRS.

I do have no audio on CarPlay about 1 out of 5 times I get in the truck so I have a legitimate issue but unless some new updates also appeared with this TSB I doubt an update to my BCM will fix the issue.

Oh my god this was written for my truck!

I’ve had weird and annoying issues like all of those listed since I got this thing.

loud static during phone calls
Disconnecting carplay
the navigation system randomly navigating to an address I’ve never entered
Camera freezing

My truck is in the shop waiting for a new electric fluid pump and I’m going to demand they address this while it’s there.
I’m sure they will fight me on it because Ford dealer.

This is super exiting in my book. I have struggled with the audio issues since I purchased the vehicle, needing to reboot the center screen probably once every 3-4 starts. I have an appointment at my local dealer to get this TSB taken care of tomorrow at 9am.

Where do you live that you can get a service appointment the next day?? I’m jealous.

If I'm understanding it correctly, the TSB allows for up to 6.6 hours of labor and a LVB replacement. With how complex and time consuming these updates are, It seems almost guaranteed that they'll kill a battery and screw something else up in the process. Even though I have the described issues, I won't be rushing to get this service done. Anyone wanna be a guinea pig and report back? :please:

In the meantime, I'll continue to reboot as needed. 🥾

I have an appointment on Monday to get the front sensor CSP done. I’m nervous about asking for this TSB as well because it seems to touch so many things. I think I’ll wait on this TSB a few weeks at least.

Should this be listed under our "Recalls And Customer Satisfaction Programs" page? I am not seeing it under mine.
A recall is for critical safety repairs.
A CSP is more of a preventative measure to address a known issue.
A TSB is a repair procedure for technicians that isn't in their normal service manual.

Recalls and CSPs will be performed for free even if you don't have the indicated issue. A TSB is supposed to only be performed if you are experiencing the indicated issue, but a dealer may go ahead and do it at their discretion.

My dealer doesn't even do appointments. They told me "appointments don't work." I somewhat agree with them in my experience. They do first-come, first-serve, and said that brining it in first thing Monday mornings will get you the fastest service, likely that day, as they get backed up as the week goes on.

Regarding this TSB, I wonder which OTA update addressed it. Maybe I've already gotten the fix. I haven't ever had the problems it talks about though.
