Sorry to ask such a basic question. Someone recently suggested the purchase of a VeePeak OBD-II Scan Tool (OBDCheck BLE) and the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 App. How that I’ve got it installed successfully, I frankly don’t know WHAT DATA I should be looking at on a regular basis.

The websites for both the device (VeePeak) and the app (Car Scanner) presume that I already know the answer!

I’d be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to get the answer as to which data I should be looking at.

Thank you.

Good question, I'm looking to get one.
Also is it ok the leave it plugged in when parked or will it drain the 12v down?
And how to determine degradation?

What I use. Takes a bit of getting used to. Offers over a dozen pre-organized dashboards. I’m follow HVB battery State of Health and LVB state of charge. I also use HVB state of charge to estimate range based on HVB % of charge as it’s accurate to .5%.

you can create your own dashboard though that takes practice. Best to pick one you like, then modify.

What I use-

The OBD adapter itself won't drain the 12V battery by any significant amount while the truck is off.
If however you keep your logging device (phone or whatever you might use) active at the same time so that it keeps polling various data / modules, then that will keep the modules alive / awake and that will in turn drain the battery.

CarScanner have a lot of the PID's ("sensors") already added, but here's a list with even more data:

To see degradation you want to look at Battery State of Health and module variation.
