I consider the PaaK to be a digital copy of my key fob. Issues I have are mostly walk-up-to-truck recognition problems (but I am lazy and keep my phone in my pocket and whoknowslasttimeIopenedFordpass). If Sparky doesn't start right away with just my phone in hand, I brute force and repeatedly don't use my backup password because I'm also stubborn. Sometimes load up Fordpass... sometimes restart Bluetooth...worst case restart the whole phone. PaaK is fine.

Backup password does work, I just try to use it as little as possible. If you're stranded without a key to your vehicle, I would expect it to strand you too.

I personally believe Backup Start Passcode should ALSO be separate from PaaK.

Honestly I've been having issues with PaaK where it just flat out stopped connecting to my truck and have just kept to keeping my fob with me. I tried fixing PaaK and now my passcode is deleted AND my phone is now having issues connecting back to the truck for PaaK.

Backup Start Passcode should also be possible by tying a door code or pattern (a la Android phone unlock) to start the truck. Keeping it barred behind a phone, especially while the software absolutely sucks, is just terrible...

Heh, so not a day later after writing my post stating PaaK is fine despite its road bumps, yesterday it gave me more trouble than I've ever had in over a year's worth of usage (and two different Android devices).

We were in the midst of a short weekend travel in the MD/DC area when my phone had no problem unlocking/locking Sparky and operating the trunk, yet twice in the same morning at two different locations the PaaK absolutely refused to start the vehicle despite having some operability (the aforementioned door unlock and frunk usage, plus after a phone restart the PaaK reported itself connected to Sparky but would still not start the vehicle). I was forced to use my backup code both times to get us moving.

I did NOT delete, reset, or otherwise nuke anything related to the PaaK while traveling ;). Frustrating experience but a minor inconvenience that I have yet to solve. My usual phone interventions were for naught but I have an appointment later this afternoon and will see how Sparky decides to operate.

I do know from redoing PAAK before that the Passcode gets deleted, but reality is setting in that this is not the leading technology company and I realized this weekend it's time for a faraday bag. It will arrive today. I may also just pop the battery out as I truly hope to not need it often. Of course it's only useful if you can still get the truck unlocked. The app saved me for that part.

However since I've gotten used to relying on PAAK I don't remember to take a fob when I'm going to the dealer or tire shop, so it will just be nice to have it hidden away and close by if needed.

We need a fob measuring contest.

Actual answer, there's a real key inside of it.
My Nissan has a real key inside. It is dramatically smaller. The comically large key Fob from Ford is very annoying.

I guess if you have tiny hands it seems large. 😜
🤣 it's more that I'd prefer not to have to wear JNCO pants to be able to have a pocket large enough for the damn thing!
