Well, the inspector failed my (second) Generac Homelink installation for the Lightning

I'm not exactly sure how the truck would handle this but I'm inclined to believe it would work.
It would “work” just fine…..in that it would do nothing at all, functionally. It would simply be a parallel conductor to the grounding conductor in the generator cord.

That sounds right. If the inspector is okay with it, that is probably what gets him to sign off on it.

Normally generators have a way to disconnect the neutral/ground bond but there appears to be no way to do that on the truck.
Yep and it's a good reason why you should get Ford involved as you will probably have to add a separate ground rod connection. It will help Ford understand why they should make the neutral/ground bond configurable.

There is a ground for the cable nearby but I don’t know if that counts. I suggested that but he said that he couldn’t approve it since he didn’t know if it would actually be connected each time.

I’m hoping that the Washington RCW for vehicle mounted generators does the trick but have not heard back.

Ford sells a code compliant home integration system. There's no way they are going to vouch for someone's homebuilt system or reengineer a system that exposes them to liability when someone electrocutes themselves with granddad's circular saw.

The above is my opinion.

Agree. 0% chance Ford responds or gets involved with this. Should not even bring up the truck to begin with. You're installing a transfer switch for any normal portable bonded neutral generator.
But he already let the 🐱 out of the 👜

HIS is not relevant. This is about Pro Power which is also available on non-EV F150's. Ford can easily make the NG bond configurable in the future. It would be no more risky than other portable generators with configurable NG bond that have been around for decades without major issues much less electrocution.

Agree and the issue is not even specific to truck mount generators. It applies to any bonded portable generators (aka separately derived systems).

Did you ever hear back from the inspector on this? Did you get final sign off/approval?

I'm also interested since this past hurricane proved the Lightning can save lives and make things comfortable during an emergency.
