We've got two vehicles full coverage, drivers in late 20s with no at-fault accidents or tickets. 100/300/100 with $1K comps full glass coverage.

We're at about ~$219 a month which is a bit more expensive than when I had the Tesla [which is way faster and just as expensive] in place of the Lightning.

Having my agent shop it around for this renewal.

Are you saying $219 pm in total for both cars? I replaced my 2018 VW Golf with the Lightning. Was paying ~$1500 for 3 vehicles for 6 months. Total premium for 6 months went up by $30. So roughly $85 per month per car thru Costco. I have the same coverage limits as you with a $1k deductible.

It's a question with only useless answers. Insurance costs differ by company, by state, by your insurance credit score, by your past claims / risk, by how many miles you drive, number of cars you have, drivers on the policy, ...

I'm also with @RickLightning on this. For instance, when I moved from San Antonio to Tucson, I changed nothing and my 6 month premium went up a couple hundred. Tucson has a high % of car theft.

What might be more helpful, is "how much did your insurance change with the Lightning?" Although even that is fraught with variables such as, did you only add, did you swap it out for something else, was that something else cheap or expensive?

I will just mention that swapping my Legacy for the Lightning didn't increase my premium as much as I was expecting.

Correct both cars!

I realize this is logically not a super valuable thread but the anecdotal comments are interesting to me if not a bit motivating to shop around

I sell insurance and yes the answer really only matter in your case. I went from 2001 ICE F150 to lightning and it went up $532 for the year. About $48 a month since I was 1 month in on my plan. Some insurance companies charge more for EVs. Tesla's were really bad for a while. One company lowered Tesla rates 50% last year. KIAs right now are basically being denied everywhere.

Currently it looks like ICE and EV F150 are about the same rates.

Really hard to compare state to state. States can have different minimums, and some are no fault. And then there is just differences in age, credit score and living situation (city, suburb, rural). But with that said my Lightning is the cheapest of our 4 vehicles @ $718 for the year 250/500 full coverage.

About $75/month. Considering my other car that is 9 YO sedan and I pay $60/month for it, a pretty good deal. I shopped around and this is the cheapest rate I could get. All the safety features bring the price of insurance down or maybe F150 drivers are better drivers compared to the mundane ICE sedan drivers 🙄

Full coverage including Tort and 100k/300k coverage.
