I hadn't seen this document until today, see below....

This is the required agreement, regarding Ford Charge Station Pro, that you must sign when taking delivery of your truck.

Note the language that SunRun is the exclusive distributor of the Ford Charge Station Pro,
and SunRun will ship you the Ford Charge Station Pro (that surprised me).

Also note SunRun is the "preferred" installer of the Ford Charge Station Pro, but customers can use their own electrician in this agreement. (no surprise).

And notice that SunRun is the exclusive distributor AND installer of the Home Integration System which must be purchased to enable Intelligent Backup Power (that surprised me).

Given the price quotes for H.I.S. that I've heard about from SunRun, it's disappointing to see this exclusive structure by Ford.

So in the states where Sunrun has no presence....you still have to buy their HIS rig to power your structure from the Lightning?

You can't get something like a Generac switchover box and have that wired in instead? Or is there some sort of proprietary handshake circuitry that Sunrun and only Sunrun has that enables this to work?

You can use a generator inlet setup if it lifts ground, but, then you are limited to the 30A that the onboard inverter can supply. And you must disconnect from the grid when running on battery.

The HIS includes its own inverter which should be - has anyone seen a manual for this thing? - rated for grid interconnect, and able to source more amperage, probably 80A like the charger can sink - the Sunrun estimator who visited my house had some placement guidelines which seemed to suggest it needed the same size wiring as the charger itself so that would make sense. But without seeing one in action or at least seeing a manual, who knows? We don't even know how they get DC into the thing from the battery - is it integrated with the charger? Does it have its own charge cord?

If the pricing I am hearing about is realistic I am waiting a while. No way will I pay Sunrun $10K or more to install mystery equipment whose capabilities are basically unknowable today.

Powering directly from the HVB requires more than just a transfer switch. You need an inverter (included with the HIS).

That document is simply a release allowing Ford to share your information with SunRun.

I received this email this morning. It's getting me slightly excited.

YOUR F-150 LIGHTNING IS COMING SOON.
GET YOUR FORD CHARGE STATION & START THE INSTALLATION PROCESS NOW.

Great news! We see you were among the first in Canada to order your own F-150 Lightning. There are a few critical steps you need to take to better enjoy your F-150 Lightning upon delivery.

Since you ordered the extended range battery configuration, you'll receive the Ford Charge Station Pro at no extra charge. But we recommend you take a few simple steps outlined below to get your Ford Charge Station Pro installed as soon as you can and prior to taking delivery of your F-150 Lightning.

TO DO SO, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE 3 STEPS BELOW

1. ORDER IT
To order your Ford Charge Station Pro, go to Ford Charging, select the F-150 Lightning Reservation Holder option and accept the terms and conditions* to arrange for the delivery of your charger prior to taking delivery of the vehicle. Please reference your reservation number, located at the bottom of this email, when placing your order online.

2. RECEIVE IT
Once you've placed an order, your charger will be shipped to your address on file.

3. INSTALL IT
Next, contact our preferred national installation partner Qmerit to receive an installation quote and schedule your installation apppointment, or make your own arrangements for installation by a professional and qualified electrical contractor of your choice.

To receive delivery of your charger station prior to your vehicle's delivery, please follow the steps outlined above. Please note that the charger will not be delivered with your vehicle. To expedite this process post delivery, you can contact Ford of Canada EV Headquarters to verify the shipping address for the charger.

Please see your reservation details below.
If you have questions, contact Ford Charging HQ at 1-888-337-9001 or [email protected]

For what it's worth Sunrun sent an estimator from the Bronx all the way 3 hours north to my little corner of the Catskills to look at my install. On their way back they were scheduled to look at another installation near Kingston. They said it was the furthest they'd ever travelled for work.

Solar around here seems to mostly be locals and some very politically connected large electrical contractors based in Albany. I don't know what Sunrun is going to do if they get an order in Plattsburgh or somewhere - just tell the customer the HIS is unavailable and find a local electrician to put the charger in?

I get where Ford are coming from - they are not in the electrical contracting business and the opportunity to cross-sell solar probably made it relatively easy to strike a deal with Sunrun, who also will be familiar with the various state regulations on connecting battery storage to the grid (which is what the Lightning plus the HIS is, really) but forcing customers to use them, at what is basically extortionate pricing, is going to leave a bad taste in many buyers' mouths.

I got the US version just now. After I give my order number, name and zip code, I was told they are not in my area and here’s a link to a local electrician. Link goes to electrician’s website and nothing there about charger.

After I give my order number, name and zip code, I was told it was too early, and I had to have a delivery date within 60 days. I don't have a delivery date yet, so what triggered the email?

In post #7 above, the link to order takes you to fordcharging.ca.

I think this is something buyers in Canada can do that is not an option (yet?) in the US. I got the email (US) Unlike P2EV, it recognized my information and put me through to the SunRun site. There is no similar option that I can find.

I did order the inverter from AEE Express. The option showed late summer shipping, when I placed the order it showed June 6. The email shows backorder.

That's what I was wondering. It seems that Ford US and Ford Canada have different path ways. The Canadian F-150 Lightning orders are on a separate system than the US. My Ford.ca login does not work with the Ford.com. I'm thinking I will probably have the truck in my driveway before the system updates. lol
