The moderator said that the pro model will come with a key fob and key switch to start it (no start button) - huge miss by ford if that's the case. This is an EV not an ICE car from the 80's
Also said push button start is optional on XLT

One thing technical thing that just stuck out.....131 KWh useable capacity extended battery.
And 300 miles per charge? That rivals smaller, more aerodynamic EVs. I hope they can squeeze 300 miles from that capacity but it seems like a stretch...

Another standout I noticed for all trim levels is that the LED headlights are “Dynamic Bending “

Even Ford marketing struggles with kW vs kWh. 10-15% less useable capacity than what was expected. Means these are more efficient than expected. 2.3 miles a kWh. Not bad at all. Hopefully they are software locking some of the gross capacity and can open it up over time like with the Mach E.

Better info on this presentation than the last one.
He made sure not to promise any exact time frames, just "order banks open in January".

I did learn that the Platinum with Max Tow will only tow 8500 lbs. I thought all models with extended range would tow 10,000 lbs?

Is there a site hosting a recording of these Livestream events?

XLT is looking more promising to me. I really want physical controls for AC and I don't like leather seats so that rules out Lariat+. If Pro is going to be delayed/sold out by my order time I would be fine with an XLT.

300/131 = 2.29... with 1000lbs of payload. Doesn't seem bad if that is truly how efficient the truck is. What's the Mach-E? 270/98 = 2.76? Doesn't seem too bad at all.

That works out to be 2.3mi/KWh. Rivian is 135KWh with 314...so that works out to be 2.33 mi/KWh.

Edit: Corrected calculations to be mi/KWh energy useage

The graphic in the dealer order manual floating around that shows XLT and PRO trims as not being available in 2022, but the live stream answer appears to confirm that all trims are available.

I have to assume this is a chip issue. No way switching out the ignition between models Id saving money.

On the original spec sheet. All trims had push start.

I'm having a hard time believing this :)

Either rivian failed at aerodynamics (kind of doubt) or ford found magical aero paint.

Alternately... EPA rating may end up a bit shorter than anticipated.

What is a key switch? A normal “put the actual key in the hole” ignition? Does the fob lock and unlock the car? I’m guessing no remote start to warm the car either on fob, but ford app might have it?
