I remember Ford announcing they'd offer a 300-mile EV F-150 for $50K ($40K base price 230-mile, plus $10K for extended range).

Actually looks like it may be a very similar situation.

At launch, you couldn't buy the $35k version (or the $50k Pro ER). A year later, the $35k Model 3 became available (maybe Ford opens up the Pro ER or XLT ER later), and then it was available for a year and a half before being cancelled (2nd Gen Lightning replaces the 1st gen trucks).

Exactly, my guess is Ford wants to try and maximize profits early on, this will please stock holders and the market. People wanting the Pro will just need to wait.

As a shareholder, it makes total sense. As someone who wants a Pro SR or ER, I'm not AS big of a fan haha

IMHO it depends on demand. As long as there's a yuge waiting list for the F150L there will be a yuge price. I don't blame them. I'd do the same thing. So I have no hard feelings towards Ford.

But it does change the math on when or if I'll get one. I say that as someone who'd be a first time EV buyer, but who also put solar onto my house last year. I waited years for solar to improve both in price and throughput before I pulled the trigger. I'm doing the same with an EV truck and was hoping this year would be the year (of course the limited supply of F150L's already told me that wasn't going to happen this year, no doubt also related to the price hike).

Why would you have expected the F150 EV to be less than the F150 ICE?

I agree that you'd expect the F150L to be more than the F150 ICE.

Unless you paid attention to Ford's mega press release announcing the F150L. I wouldn't be so let down if they hadn't made a big ol' honkin' deal about a 300 mile EV truck for $50K.

I saw all the ads, I'm a first day depositor. I expected the model I purchased would be MORE than equivalent F150 ICE. EV's are generally $20k more than identical ICE vehicle.

I thought Ford was clear that there was a fleet model for $40k(?) but that regular models would follow regular pricing.

Don't see anything deceptive by Ford.

No, EVs are not generally $20k more than a comparable ICE vehicle.

Cooper SE is the same price as a comparable Cooper S, before credit.

Taycan is cheaper than the same trim Panamera, before credit.

The list goes on. Some BEVs are more than comparable gas, but $20k more is not anywhere close to average.

As far as the 300-mile $50k Pro ER, Ford did not make it clear at first that it would be Fleet only, so some reasonably assumed that it would be an option. Apparently OP is one of them.

OP probably is 100% sure Chevy is going to offer their long range base model at $50k-ish to non-fleet ASAP and this exact realization he's had today will hit in about a year
