Swap for my dealers mannequin unit?

Should I swap my XLT SR that will be delivered within a month or so with my dealer's Lariat ER that will arrive in the next week or two? Either one would be at MSRP. I've got my dealer checking on this FCTP provision with their rep:

This provision seems to me it would allow the swap. If any of the penalties apply then we wouldn't do the swap. The only two 2022 Lightning's my dealer is getting are the mannequin unit and my XLT.

I have an XLT SR on order. It has an June 1st blend date so it should already be assembled.

What's changed since my wave 2 order:
- The range on the ER has been raised by 20 miles.
- Ford has announced that the ER should have better expected battery life than the SR.
- Gasoline prices have increased by 40% or so.
- If my wife loves the Lightning then I think she will drive it around locally and leave her SUV in the garage.
- The ER model would give more confidence on longer trips.

My order: XLT SR 311A package with Max Tow, Tow Technology, fancy tailgate and spray in bedliner $59,084 MSRP. Atlas Blue.
Mannequin unit: Lariat ER 511A package with Max Tow and the spray in bedliner $81,244 MSRP. Rapid Red which is a fine color with me. So $22,160 more for the Lariat ER.

The price of gasoline shouldn't have any impact on this decision. Both trucks use none of it.

I was wondering the same thing! I ordered a pro SR.. not sure which manequin my dealer getting yet (haven't asked) but if they get a basic lariat ER, I'd be down for swapping. Keep us posted with any developments. My Pro should be coming early to mid July knock on wood.

That’s an interesting clause from the FTCP provision…I have a SR range Lariat coming in a few weeks but if a dealer would swap for the Pro at MSRP I would take that deal in a heartbeat.

lariat er is good choice as long as you are good with the red and the additional cost. 320 range is good for this size truck as of 2022.

The price of gasoline shouldn't have any impact on this decision. Both trucks use none of it.

The only consideration on the price of gasoline is that my wife would probably be more likely to drive the Lariat over the XLT (have to wait for them to arrive to make that decision). 10 way power seat will probably adjust better for her than the XLT 8 way.

Also, was plotting out a trip from home to my son's Colorado. The ER should make it in three stops. The SR would likely take 5 stops. (This is all based on the locations of existing chargers today).

So you're willing to spend twice as much money? Why not just order the lariat in the first place?

I would swap. Your ER becomes SR range in the winter.

The winter SR range will be too low.

If it's MSRP, I'd be all over it!

I am in a similar need - Lariat coming in next month but would rather have an XLT.

SR is all I need for urban commuting and no cold weather to deal with.

Side note:
My dealer: Ken Grody Ford told me their demo/mannequin has not yet arrived and they would let me know as soon as it arrives as I am itching for a test drive.

I don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere before - do you have a link to the source?

Check out The ford website and compare the xlt sr to the lariat ev. That way you can see the difference. I’m sure the xlt has it’s pluses and the lariat also. Really matter of personal preference and available dole.

I don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere before - do you have a link to the source?

I'm still looking for the specific post or article I read. I think it was around the same time that Ford announced the new HP and range figures for the Lightning.

If I recall correctly, the design for the ER battery was better optimized with charging and discharging efficiencies. Therefore the peak loads on the ER battery cells were lower than on the SR battery. I don't think the battery life would be significantly different with home charging but perhaps a high amount of DC fast charging would adversely impact the SR battery more.
