So I don’t see anyway to reserve a model. Is it only possible to reserve a 2023 if you reserved a 2022 but never were able to purchase? When can new reservations for 2023 be possible? All I can do is save or get updates. Just want to make sure I am not missing something.
New reservations have been locked down since December 2021. Based on currently projected build rates, it is likely that all of 2023 production will go to existing reservation holders. However, The price increases could really hurt the conversion rate opening up some units later in the year. At this point we just don't know.

My guess is if a person extended for a Pro- they likely aren’t going to order with the price increase and potentially missing tax credit
Why? I plan to order a pro on Thursday. I’m excited that there is potentially a certificate program to offset the cost. With nothing MSRP is $50K. I am potentially getting a $7500 tax credit and a certificate. I anticipate prices climbing 3-5K per year for the next couple years. I can’t get this any cheaper.

Those that did receive an order invite and decided to wait for their trim were extended.

Those people will get first crack at ordering plus a PCO to offset the increases in price.

If you reserved on 5/20/21, then you will have to wait for an order invite and pay the increased prices.
Well I reserved on 5/19 and I still have to wait for the invite. I thought we’d be going off of reservation timestamp now instead of re-prioritizing last year’s holdouts but we’ll see.

Are there any advantages in any states to a dealer actually taking title?

I can't say that I've ever heard of a vehicle in Illinois being titled to a dealer. I've even seen DL plates on parts trucks and service loaners, and I think they're still sellable inventory.
From a federal incentive perspective? I'm not sure as I don't see it. Maybe section 179 that allows depreciation? But I would think that would have to be paid back if they sold it. I know in the past, dealers would take title for inventory and kickback reasons. It wasn't uncommon to buy a car where the warranty clock has started because the dealer took possession.

With an EV, that's not as attractive because doing so would essentially pull $7500 from the customer, which would reduce what you could sell the vehicle for.

2022 Lightning (Ordered 6/19, delivered 10/28/22)
Please explain what an extended reservation is? I ordered on May 20 2021 and did not make any waves for a 2022. Am I an extended reservation or is that a invite for a wave from the 2022's that has not been taken yet?
You did not order on May 20, 2021..you made a reservation.

Reservations are different from orders. An extended reservation is if you received an email from Ford to configure your truck for ordering and found out the trim you wanted was no longer available. At that point you'd be given the opportunity to either choose a different trim that was available for order..OR extend your reservation to '23 to try to get the trim you wanted.

Just figured if most could afford or wanted to pay $50k they would’ve just ordered an XLT instead of extending. I’m sure some will still order but the dynamics of the price increase, interest rates and questions about the tax credit, I just think the conversion rate will significantly drop

Understood. Poor choice of words. Trying to do too many things at 1 time. My question is when will those that did not get an invite for a 22 expect to see new invites going out for 23's?

Well, there is still a difference between ordering and taking delivery. Many might still order hoping that something will improve by the time delivery occurs. The Private Cash and Tax rebates are still a bit foggy at moment. Perhaps if conversion rates go directly in the toilet Ford will open up some limited private cash for all reservations.

If ford wants to be a little shady they could start churning out dealer stock Lariats to get around reservation holders.

I'm left wondering the same. Ballpark Q1 2023 reservation window if I'm lucky, at this point. But have a better chance of winning the $1.2Billion MegaMillions jackpot.

I agree with you. Too many factors are pushing the cost up.

My husband drives 30-40k miles/yr, so we could justify a larger monthly pmt based on gas savings. But that only goes so far.

Ideally he needs an ER. So no tax credit, a higher interest rate, and higher MSRP mean that we will be looking at what our other options are - when previously we were both set on getting the Lightning.

You missed $650 scale. The difference is more than $9000
Wow I didn't even notice that was an option checked as scale removal. Good catch. I uncheck the removal and It's $90,399 for the same truck that was $80,999.
