Anybody else notice the slight "Click" when starting off either in forward or reverse?

No official word of a recall or TSB from my service center. But the guy I spoke with on the phone did say that Ford told them to replace the axle.

I swear I was hearing the clicking sound from the front and rear but we will see!

Had my lariat since Monday. I also hear the click with windows open when I accelerate from a stop. Only have 450 miles on the truck so far.

Maybe the CV joints are undersized for the torque and weight of the truck?

I've had the click since day 1 as well. Had 73 miles on it off the transport truck. Only time I ever hear it is with the windows down from a stop. I have over 2300 miles on it.

Our explorer st does this all the time. Its the splines in the cv shafts moving inside the hub splines.

Just had it at the dealer. They could not figure out what the noise is and how to fix it. They opened a ticket with engineering at Ford. Their demo truck makes the same clicking noise.

This is what my dealer said it was too. They said they replaced something today and the click is gone. I’m going to pickup the truck tomorrow and see.

They said whatever they replaced today was a onetime use part. Maybe the spindle nut? I wonder if they just replaced the spindle nuts and torqued everything down. We’ll find out tomorrow! I’ll post my work order and let you all know if the tick is gone.

My Pro has done this from day one. They’ll probably fight me on the warranty coverage with a 2” level kit too lol.

Getting it reviewed by another shop and reported to Ford engineering may be the best thing you can have happen. I know it doesn't fix yours specifically, but it is documented and by now it seems Ford should start to have enough data. They likely know what it is by now, they just have to determine what a fix is and how it gets rolled out.

Gained access both Left and Right front half-shafts, cleaned and re-greased CV splines per previous diag. Rechecked for noise, no longer present at this time.

Hmmm CV joints are normally drowning in grease (held in by the boot). Interesting that someone forgot to grease just the shaft spline where it mates with the outer CV inner race? Is that what they say is happening?
