Yes that’s what I was wondering, is it just based off the most recent trip?
No, it's not just your last trip. It might be from "recent" trips (but I have no idea what "recent" is). Or is might be from all trips-to-date. Unsure. Sorry I don't know.

I got in my extended range today and it reads 188 miles at 90%. Range average is 2.2 because I did several long highway trips. Seems crazy low though! I did a long trip yesterday probably averaged 1.6. Anyone know how it calculates the recent miles?
Kind of in the same boat. 188 @ 80%

So, Im planning on using mine tomorrow. I keep it an hour down the hill in a garage at my parents and drive it long distance to my office and back, twice a month. I will reset the trip o meter like some have suggested and do the math and see what I really get on a round trip. It’s going to be interesting. I will report back what it does.

Mine was saying about 185 miles at 78% the other day. Then I took the truck on a trip up into NH to go hiking this weekend. I left the house at 97% and would've made the entire 300 mile round trip with a few percent to spare. I charged at a DCFC on the way home because I had to run some errands after getting back. When all was said and done I drove 336 miles on 110% charge. That's 3.05 miles/%SOC compared to the GOM which was telling me 2.37 miles/%. The GOM grossly underestimates, probably more so when the mornings get cold but the days are still warmer.

Super nice to hear! I had a gut feeling this was the case and will be my case. Thanks for sharing.

I charged up today and it's saying 190 miles at 70%, so it's a bit closer but still not what i was getting over the weekend.

Just for completeness, the trip was 2/3rds freeway driving (mostly 70-72) and 1/3rd state highways which was mostly 50-60.

At home now at 91 with 308 estimate. Most of my driving is fairly local averaging 3+miles per kWh, so the GOM is giving me a 2.6 mile per kWh estimate. Echoing a previous post, please give us the raw kWh remaining and instantaneous and recent Wh per mile. With those numbers we can make a guess at our remaining range.

This Trip is actual.
GOM predicts range based on battery SOC, recent driving (hundreds of miles), and current conditions.
Your recent long trip of 1.6 would bring the GOM down.
Low temps will bring it down.

If you do mostly highway driving, you will never see 320 miles on a full charge.

Highway mileage is usually around 2mi/kWh st 70mph. 2mi/kWh x 131kWh battery = 262 miles. That is where your range estimate is coming from. The truck is using your past driving habits to guess on the range you will see.

Start driving less highway, and your range estimate will be higher at full charge.
There is a HUGE difference between driving on a busy highway and driving on an empty highway. Open road with no traffic, the wind resistance is a lot higher. You will not get better than 1.7mpg at 70 if you are the only one pushing the air.

There is a HUGE difference between driving on a busy highway and driving on an empty highway. Open road with no traffic, the wind resistance is a lot higher. You will not get better than 1.7mpg at 70 if you are the only one pushing the air.
Very true.

Where I live we don't have empty highways unless at 2 am in the mornings....

Congested So Cal means lots of traffic 7 days a week.

That's why I get average 3+ MPK

I was in the exact same boat. It’s way underestimating it. I did a 84 mile round trip test through the mountains where I live. Climbing out of 6200 level and going up to about 7500 and down to 4200, then back. I used 26 percent of my battery for 84 miles. So, even though it was telling me my maximum range was at 240, it was really 320 plus when I did the math on the percentage of battery used in a round trip for mileage used.

BTW the newest update on the Lightning completely corrected this issue. Make sure you have the latest updates. I hope this helps.

I was pretty upset with it until I put it to the test. Now I’m very pleased with the performance.

The most important question is whether or not your actual range is only 235 miles or if that is just the guess-o-meter's flawed conservative guess. I have had a similar drop but I am pretty sure that actual range is much closer to 300.

Very normal this time of year.

Your Guess O Meter is being very conservative.

Every fall/winter this is common - Guess O Meter turns into the Stress O Meter...

Precondition, charger connected at all times, and use less cabin heating and more seat heaters.

Here's today's range:

I've got a Standard Range... but the warm 77 degree weather + NYC driving give me quite a bit above the promised 230 miles. I'm curious to see the winter drop. My Mach-E SR would drop to about 190 or less.
