Your dealer is incorrect. The entire purpose of the private offer is to reset your actual price to the original 2022 pricing. Your order at Ford.com will show the applicable pricing, which will represent the $7k bump (being offset by the private offer). Your window sticker will show the second $5k bump . . . which would apply to a secondary purchaser in case you decide not to finalize your order. Print your order confirmation/pricing and take that to your dealer. As others have noted, if your dealer continues to bluff, call Ford Customer Service to straighten things out.
Had an argument with Ford via phone call yesterday regarding this. Ultimately, its up to the dealer to honor the price reduction. In the email sent from Ford regarding the Price Match, no where does it state that its up to the dealer to accept. The representative told me she is sorry I feel the way I do and that theres nothing that can be done.

You should absolutely tweet at Jim Farley and Mike Levine and hope they can put some pressure on the dealer to do the right thing.

Thank you for the report. Obviously, this is hugely frustrating/disappointing. Like Ford's supply chain, their customer support appears to be broken. For MY23 Ford set up the ordering process such that your dealer confirms their pricing at the time they confirmed placement of your order -- that is what shows with your account on Ford.com. For Ford to then say, "Final price is determined solely by your dealer," comports with the law on resale price-fixing, but it does no align with (1) your dealer having previously confirmed pricing with your order (at August price bump), and (2) a private offer of price protection to the customer from Ford (off-setting the August price bump). If Ford CS won't stand up for their customers, are we to understand that Ford will allow dealers to also take the private offer?!

According to Norfolk Southern, my Lightning has departed the rail yard in Michigan as of 8:21am today. Getting closer!

Exactly!

Is Ford giving them the discount even if they don't give the discount to us? If not, then it costs the dealer nothing to pass it along. Or are dealers planning to lie about having given the discount, perhaps by showing the price protection, but adding equivalent ADM?

Same for the price protection (for Pro). The document posted previously shows that the dealer will be refunded by Ford for the price protection difference. So, it costs the dealers nothing, it seems. In order to benefit, it SEEMS they would have to show that they gave the "discount" (it's not really a discount, just the original price), but then added equivalent ADM. If they just DON'T give the "discount", then they don't get paid back and screwing the customer doesn't benefit them.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like dealers will have to effectively add ADM in order to be able to pocket the "discounts" that are clearly intended for the customer.

Well put, kinda my thoughts going into this as well. They HAVE to sell it to you to get below 23 MSRP. So it’s obviously in their best interest to make the sale with you. The private offer is your reservation number and for you only. Guess we’ll start seeing soon enough!

This is a bargaining chip is that all the price protection and private offer is tied to us.

The dealer will just sell it at the msrp without the price protection then. I doubt they give a fig and have no actual motivation to sell my truck to me specifically because they make the sale either way. It is, however, in my best interest at the moment to remain calm with them and explain what is actually correct with the pricing despite wanting to pull my hair out every time I do. These dealer laws need to change and Ford's model needs to change to get with the current century. If it was possible I would not pick a dealer and I highly doubt I am in the minority here. </rant>

Yeah, it's a terrible system.

Just thinking about it, IF they have to sell it to you with the price protection "discount" in order for Ford to pay them back, then, like you said, they don't have any actual motivation to give it to you, money-wise (they're just a passthrough for the money, it's a net $0 for them). Perhaps, though, if they won't give you the whole price protection, you say something like "OK, give me the $5k "discount", but then put a $2k ADM on the truck. So, YOU get $3k benefit and they get $2k benefit. That would be a win-win in the sense of you both end up better than $0/$0 because you split Ford's money.

Obviously, you shouldn't have to do that and they should just give you the $5k from Ford, BUT if they otherwise won't do it because it's no benefit to them, then maybe that's an option to get at least SOME of it.

FWIW, I just talked to my contact at Granger (Iowa), and they're saying that they can't see the Private Offer until the truck arrives (don't know if this is true or not), but they said that I *should* get both the price protection (because it was ordered at $47k Base) and the $7k private offer, and that they will pass along any "discounts" I am eligible for in the system when the truck arrives.

I feel like ford should be reaching out to see if we want to delete the security chip that they made post chip shortages orders remove.
There is only $7500 riding on it ;)

It's a comedy of errors in here, with Ford's lack of control/communication on the "discounts" and the stupidity of a sharp, delivery-based cutoff for the tax credit.
Say... since I'm in a pissed off mood from my dealer still I figured I'd share something that gave me quite a laugh. I got to thinking... You know how Jeep guys have the hand sign that they use to show off how cool their special Jeep club is? What if Lightning owners had one too... since I think the mods would like to keep the forum PG I won't say what it is but it turns out there is already a "shocking" hand sign everybody already knows!

My dealer was able to see the 7k, my truck has shipped it that makes a difference?
