I'm not having much luck with the auto turn on feature of the kicker or the LC2i. Where is the closest 12v switched hot wire I can jumper to the remote on leads??

You get a red power light on the Kicker but it never turns to blue? Have you tried temporarily wiring the subwoofer leads directly to the Kicker?

The Kicker harness has a left and right speaker input. I had to tie both together (So L+/R+ to woofer lead +) to get it to turn on.

The fuse box in the passenger footwell is probably the easiest and closest if you don't want to find and tap into the power wire going into the amp.

In the footwell (body) fuse box you can use Fuse 37 - 20 amp. It is unused/extra and is switched with the ignition. Page 432 of the manual. Also unused is 27 - which is always on/hot. I used both of these for a dash cam install.

Listed there in position 28 is "Amplifier" I don't know if it is hot or switched, you might even be able to use it.

The plastic in the door sill area is easy to pop off to facilitate running your wire to the front.

I had a few minutes to mess with the stock 8 speaker audio.

I unplugged the center speaker and moved the fade slightly to the rear. Still nothing like a proper stereo but meaningful improvement and will tide me over until I decide on what to do sub wise. I really don't get installing that center speaker without the ability to adjust it. Same issue on my F250.
What size is the center speaker?
And would replacing it with a small sub work?

I don't know what size, but without some intermediary device there is no way to get the right signal to it. It would need a cross over or something to pull the higher frequencies out to leave it a sub. It's just overpowering in all situation. Some have reported just unplugging it. I could try that, but the door speakers won't know it is unplugged so not sure the difference.

OMG I can't believe they put such a small ass speaker for the center channel and make it over power all the other speakers. It's a 3 inch speaker I think, I forgot to measure it as I unplugged it yesterday. The sound is much better without it, you can hear separation of sounds. Very easy to pop off the griil and unscrew the speaker to unplug it, I screw it back in place with the speaker wire threw the hole so it can't fall back into the hole. There's just a full sound now as you can turn the volume up now without the center speaker taking over. I beg of you, all of you take to unplug that Damm center speaker.
My 2004 Lariot I changed all 4 stock speakers and added a Amp to a Subwoofer and that was perfect for me, I will get a Subwoofer for the lightning and will be good to go..
There should be a sticky for this.

I went a bit deep yesterday. I ordered a system from MTI, using Focal Flax speakers and JL Audio sub and amps. It'll likely be January before it is here and it will be a self install. So here is hoping for a big improvement.

Will revamping the audio system and adding all new amps, speakers, dsp etc, would that automatically void some factory warrantees? Let's say you take your truck in because of an issue that is non related to your audio install. Can Ford say, nah we're not going to honor warranty because you have clean professionally installed after market equipment in your truck that seems to be having no issues? I am going to have a serious audio upgrade this spring and I'd hate for it to screw up any warranty situations that might arise.

I don't think so as noted and protected by federal laws.

My biggest worry is my truck with the upgraded stereo gear sitting on a dealer lot not being protected while it might be there for service.

I had a 2014 F-150 stolen off of the dealer lot while there for service (they left the keys on the tire) and the two times my Lightning has been in the shop the valve stem covers were stolen BOTH times. I know you just have to say WTH, but yes it happens. Quite certain that all 3 incidents were inside jobs.

I'm doing a self install and my stereo equipment arrives today, my next step will probably be to call insurance too.

Zero deductible on the comprehensive portion of insurance is money well spent.

It's not a huge price jump, but it takes the bite out of stereo theft, vandalism, and catching rocks on the windshield.

the correct answer is it should not effect any other components of the car

But if you add a turbo or blower its going to effect the full powertrain and lots of other stuff due to the raised HP and torq

In reality do you have the time and money to fight ford in the court system to prove your changes did not cause a problem.

Its easy to say Moss Magnusson act but it takes time and money to go that route

How did you power the Kicker subwoofer? Fuse panel or direct to the battery?

I made the following changes so far to the stock B&O system (Lariat ER). Everything so far has been exactly the same as the ICE trucks. I used the ICE and MachE forums to research these changes.

Note: I am not an audiophile, this is the most I have ever upgraded a car stereo system and almost all of the music I listen to is rock produced between 1970-2000. YMMV. 😛

Replaced subwoofer with a Kicker Hideaway (HS10). This upgrade makes a big difference over the stock setup IMO. The install was straightforward and the sub fits nicely in the spot where the stock subwoofer was. I am using the high level outputs from the stock amp which the HS10 supports but in theory a dedicated LOC is better. I will probably try a LC2i at some point to see how much of a difference it makes.

Removed center channel dash speaker. As others have noted this speaker just feels overpowering (i.e. it feels like all the music comes out of this speaker). A center speaker seems out of place in a setup used mostly for listening to music in stereo. This Dayton Audio speaker (DA 8ohm 3.5) was recommended as a replacement (the stock speaker is 8ohm). I bought it but haven't tried it out yet.

Replaced front door speakers with Kicker CS 6x9s (Kicker 46CS). These were originally going to be for the rear doors but I thought I would try them up front first. I think they are better but I'm not sure it was a huge improvement. With the tweeters on the A pillars I feel like a quality component mid-range speaker might be a better upgrade choice for the front doors.

I think eventually I will end up using a ZEN-A2B (or equivalent). This is probably the fastest path to getting the best quality audio since you have full control over amplification and remove any processing by the B&O DSP. I just wasn't ready to jump directly to that step and wanted to tinker a bit along the way.
Where did you run the power signal from?
