There are 2 types of people who buy the ER. Those that need it daily, and those who haven't owned an EV and have range anxiety.

This is my first EV, but I understood how it works and when I'd need to charge. For the lack of times I'll need to wait at a gas station...I can sit at a fast charger for 20 minutes 3-5 times a year.

Not to mention, for me, I would've had to spend $30k extra for an ER.
100% correct but you forgot to mention the 3rd group: people who tow heavy loads.

Having had previous EV experience has taught me a lot before I got my first full BEV: Lightning.

No regrets at all - actually it has exceeded my expectations!

Having driven both the SR and ER...the horses are truly not noticeable.

I'm not sure where the exact point is that the SR/ER power curves diverge, but it's probably 40-60mph, and up until that point, they're basically identical, but the SR is lighter.

So, the difference is probably mostly meaningful in highway passing and such.

Point being, it's reasonable that someone could drive the two and not really notice a difference in most of their driving.

Add in a fourth type...those that wanted the toys included with the ER, like the moon roof and other 'options'. I could have easily made do with the SR for my driving habits but wanted the upgrade for other features.

Absolutely no regrets. I live in a colder climate area and still haven't had issues with regular daily use. Even had a 100+ mile trip each way in a snow storm and it was fine with a charge while it was parked. I'll really be putting it to the test going from CT to PA on Christmas eve night with temps in the teens and single digits but with a charge along the way, I feel good about how it'll do.

Lariat SR with 4k miles. I’m charging it at 90% twice a week with occasional charging at work. It was a deliberate decision to go with SR and no regrets what so ever. I bought it mainly for daily commute and kid duty. It fits the bill perfectly. Ask yourself how often do you drive 200 miles in a day per year? That will help you decide what range best fits your need

I have an ER, I drive like a lunatic, I use my truck at work and to commute and I probably have more miles on my Lightning than 95 percent of the people on this board, but 18,000 miles in 192 days is less than 100 miles a day .
So even in my heavy use case , there aren’t a whole lot of days so far where I’ve had to hit a high speed dc charger in the middle of the day for juice . It’s helped with towing , driving 90 mph and all of the days I forget to plug my truck in.

So with all of that said , If the ER didn’t exist , I could make the SR work. I’ll also admit that sometimes late at night , I think to myself since I was wave one and had the option to buy the unicorn pro , maybe I should have cashed in my lottery ticket .

Make sure you scope out the EA chargers ahead of time on plugshare for reviews . They were sketchy at best for me in PA .

Very good point @MickeyAO!

It's a shame Ford bundled some of these features with the battery size.

Zero regrets. You make EVs work for you, no matter the range. Many people overthink range and put themselves in a use case that’s not realistic for them (like using 300 miles of range consistently). Save the insane price increase for an ER and go with the SR. Oh, and the power/charge speed differences are negligible. They’re both fast as sh*t.

Good looking out. It's actually NY that I've been watching for weeks. The one in Newburgh off I-84 is gonna be key for me. Looks like at least 3 of the 4 have been reliable. Hoping that trend continues. There's a Shell one in Middletown I've been scoping too but I think the weather on Friday is gonna stop me from hitting that one. The one in Scranton is gonna be my emergency one on the return trip too just in case the cold REALLY zaps me on Christmas eve.

This is the key metric - maybe closer to a 150 cutoff if you live where it get's cold. For me, that is between 24 and 30 days a year and will likely increase next year when my daughter goes to college (her top choice is ~100 miles away, 200 mile round trip). That number was enough for me to make the ER worthwhile. We could have continued to press my wife's Mach-e into service for those trips, but the Lightning is just more comfortable with 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

The extra features with the Lariat ER were a selling point too.

i have been happy with my sr pro.

I dont see adding 80 miles to range as a huge improvement in my daily adventures. I have yet to go below 40% charge
