Does anyone have any ideas for a gasket/grommet to place in the Frame openings to protect the cables from rubbing? I've personally never ran through frame before, usually I go through firewall. I was thinking some of that split foam stuff for water pipes.

I'd almost have to ask what you've listened to previously that you are comparing to? Find someone in your area that has upgraded and listen to some good music you'll hear things you've never heard before.

I will say - is it worth it to many? Llikely not, and that is OK, but listen to a good sound system and you'll then question why this system is so weak for what you are paying.
ive never had the opportunity to listen to a upgraded system but I’m not clueless to music quality. My father is an audiophile, $50K sound system. I personally enjoy listening to music with headphones at home, sennheiser hd650. I don’t know, maybe I’m not that picky, my friends agree with my sentiment too.

That makes sense and I have to agree that I'm not an audiophile at all. I definitely got caught up in just being so dissatisfied with what the factory brings. I've seen videos and read stories, likely $400 in speaker upgrades or a simple amp and speakers with no DSP could have made a huge differences. My real dissatisfaction comes from what I've gotten used to from Tesla. Great bang for your buck for a factory system.

I've got too much time on my hands and started watching videos and almost made it a challenge and new hobby to see what I could do to this system. The tuning is a fine art which I'll never master, but have watched probably 30 hours of videos learning and becoming more interested. Those folks all use nice expensive speakers and add sound materials to doors. I thought all along I can do that.

So I started thinking I could make it sound better for under $1K and it did grow a bit out of hand, but now have a system that truly plays and gives me sound like I've never truly heard in any setting. It is a pretty incredible thing, but doing something like this is fun and satisfying, but each person has to decide if it is worth it or not.

That is exactly where I put my fuse. I was able to get two screws in it. I think it will stay put.

I have the 8 speaker b and o, from the picture below, is that white connector for the 12 speaker? It just goes no where but back into the same wire loom as the other audio wires. I’m just wondering.

I'm not sure why they included that connector on our wiring harnesses. I get that they include some extra adapters just to make things simpler, but they usually have wires in them. Mine had nothing - I removed it in the process of my upgrade.

Slow process, but this is some rear door work I did this weekend. Morel 6.5 coax, metra speaker adapters, Install bay silicone baffles, and small amount of stinger roadkill.

Started to wire and install sub in box today. It’s an mti box, I didn’t make it myself. I added the poly fill and did the wiring.

Very nice. I've got the same box/woofer. Purchased it already assembled. I see you are wiring both voice coils. Mine were already done which was a good thing, because knowing they both have to be wired is all I know. I assume just using a splitter from the inside of the wiring posts.

Did the mesh cover come with it? I'm thinking that is sold separately, but I need to get one just for protection sake. Mine didn't ship with it.

How deep is that box? Their site lists it at 4”, but not sure if it is 4” without the sub in? Curious to know if you have any issues getting the seat latched up when it’s installed?

Looks like it’s made mostly of 1/2 mdf with 3/4 mdf reinforcement where the sub screws in?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I had the woofer and grill from a previous build. The grill is a seperate part from JL. I don't think it will fit with the grill, I will probably have to remove it. But behind the seat its not at risk of getting punctured.

Started work on the back wall today. Removed factory sub/amp and Jack. Did small amount of sound treatment. Plugged the sub hole with a piece of hdpe. Also moved a module a bit up and out of the way of the sun box.
