So I disconnected the battery this morning and it seemed to work. App is now updating, though my interior chimes are now the ford default. Hopefully that fixes itself soon.

Would be amazing if ford new what they were talking about ever.
Same for me this afternoon.

Interesting apparatus on the negative terminal:

Looks like a battery disconnect solenoid to me. Wonder how to activate it...

Edit: google tells me it is a sensor not a disconnect

We can change the interior chimes?

I don't really understand why this hasn't been bigger news. My 2023 lightning stopped talking to Fordpass almost a week ago.

First, I chatted with Fordpass, they said it is a known issue and are working at it.

Two days later, called Fordpass. They brought up my VIN and the rep said "Oh, we're supposed to tell you that this is a 2023 wide outage, and that a fix will be available in FEBRURARY. But, I can go into the dealer to see if they can reset my modem.

I did that - went to the dealer. Dealer said they tried yesterday to fix it with a different vehicle, but no luck. They talked to a Ford global technology specialist who said expect an update to be available at the end of February or perhaps early March.

How is it that Ford can sell a vehicle so heavily reliant on a (less than awesome) app, and then simply be okay with a 2 month outage for that. Infuriating.
Thanks for posting the update. My car has been dropping offline every 5-7 days. It’s a 2023 Platinum and I agree that “early March” is a totally bonkers timeframe!?!

You get two keys, can configure everything from inside the truck, so Ford says there's no issue...... :ROFLMAO:
Yes, exactly. Not that the app is anything amazing (aka Tesla) but it's a heck of a lot better than sitting inside the truck trying to figure it out, or having to be bluetooth connected to remote start it (given they took away that button on the remote).

For what it's worth, the issue is with the truck, not the FordPass app.

Also, it's mostly (maybe only) affecting 2023's right now. That's probably why it's not bigger news...only a few of us are experiencing it.

My guess is the modem is locking up, which is why the 12v negative pull is a workaround at the moment.

The fact that they are aware of the issue, are currently working on the fix, and plan on implementing it in February (what I've heard) gives me some peace of mind.

The 12v pull is absolutely annoying, but it takes less than 2 minutes. Soon we (hopefully) won't have to touch it again.

This truck is awesome, I feel lucky to have it, growing pains with Gen 1 are what I expected.

I don't see an attached diagram. I don't have one for the Lightning fuse boxes, I'm just relaying info from another member here who said pulling the #9 fuse did the trick.
I may be the source of the bad information. I pulled the #9 CB as labeled on the CB panel in the passenger footwell. It's a 5 amp mini CB. I never looked at the diagram before pulling it. The CB I pulled either fixed the issue or it was incredible timing.

I actually tend to agree with you, now that I know the battery pull works. I'm still somewhat shocked that neither Ford nor the dealer knew about the fix.

Agree on the truck - it's pretty amazing. I think the main thing is build quality. I'm driving an amazingly well built, super quite, comfortable F150 Platinum which happens to have an electric motor. I also appreciate that there isn't a whole bunch of ridiculous changes made because it's an EV. We still have a centre consol (although it's not really needed), etc.

I have a 2022 and it is now effecting my app/truck as well. It just started yesterday. Tried pulling the 12v and no change. I also think the March time frame is a very rough estimate. It'll be updated in February and Ford will say "See, we are so wonderful, we delivered your fix BEFORE the promised deadline. Love us"

I just bought new lightning and tried 8 or 9 times to activate. Person on chat also said "please try again in February ... whaaaaa.....????

Every time I tried to activate it fails altogether. Then I got the following messages in the fordpass app: "Sorry there was an error and we were unable to complete your request to change authorization rights on [name of truck]. Please try again later."
I bought this truck new yesterday and the dealer told me the original buyer backed out. So II think there's a clue here - any suggestions???

Reread the thread, a temporary solution has been discussed here and in countless threads.

I had exactly the same issue with my truck I picked up in December. The dealer had to replace the modem as it dropped offline (from what ford could see at the end of November). My dealer replaced the modem and I was able to activate the truck.

You may have a dead modem like me as well as the software bug (which I’m experiencing now as well). Disconnecting the 12v worked for me.

If it was working before, and stopped, then maybe. Comms outage breaks a number of things. It's actually informative to have the outage, so you can see what stops working.
