I for one, am happy Ford dropped prices on the '23 MME and are retroactively giving those that delivered from 1/1/23 a refund check from Ford.

If it arrives before March, I'll get $3980 price drop, $6500 PCO, $2000 Options, $7500 tax credit, $2000 state rebate, $1000 Ford pass points VISA.
Net cost before TTL: $34K

My MME window sticker is being regenerated BTW:

Ford: get ready for a price cut - the Silverado is coming the first half of 2023!

"The Chevrolet Equinox EV, for example, which is scheduled to launch this summer along with the Chevy Blazer EV, will have a base price in the low $30,000s. GM says it expects to cut EV cell costs to $87 per kilowatt-hour by 2025, which could be a stretch target, even two years from now. "

If Ford does not lower the price, there will be a lot of unsold pricey Lightnings, perhaps?
By the time the Silverado comes out the 2nd Gen Lightning will be on the way with LFPs and lower prices. This Gen will likely not see a price drop IMO. If it does, itā€™ll be back to the original MSRP, soā€¦.. no price drop.

I don't know that it was any kind of indication, but seems almost every dealer has a Lightning or two on the lot form abandoned orders at the end of the year. One near me says they have 5. I can only see two of the window stickers and they were both abandoned orders. So what will happen, effectively the trucks took close to a $15K jump - losing the rebates and the 2023 price increases. Are that many people really going to stay in line to pay that kind of money for a truck?

Only time will tell, but I think we need 3 months to see if Ford really ramps the production on this truck and how many people still haven't gotten a chance to order. I never thought they'd get ramped to the 150K or more they were targeting and I think, very likely on purpose now, they never will. They don't want these trucks sitting on lots. It should only be 2 years before they have a completely different design on the road with completely different tech. There is no reason to put any more money into this truck or build them at a rate which they sit on lots.

It would be a different story if they dropped the SR Lariat and made more Pro's and XLT's but there isn't the profit in those either, so no need to do that. Ford has learned there is demand for the EV truck, but they know this one is a dead end.
do you mind telling me the dealer that has those? most that do have a ridiculous mark up but Iā€™d love to check

This is the dealer that someone said had 5. Only 3 of them had stickers at that time and when I look them up tonight and type in Lightning they show 3.

@kbuicker has also noted another dealer in the Dallas area that had 2 I believe. I don't know which dealer that was. I'm sure he'll be happy to share with you.

Sorry - you won't find one of those here.

Those 3 are just a few miles from me, but they are likely covered in ice today anyway. No pun intended.

Someone else in my small town has a lightning, '22 Lariat ER they're trying to sell for $95,000. I think they got convinced to buy an abandoned order from the local dealer.

Planetford635.com has two at no markup. A lariat and a Pro. Pro is custome so may be marked up. PlanetFordDallas.com has a star white platinum.

Clearly the market is softening quickly. I just got a call from my dealer. He has a Lariat on the lot, configured very similarly to my order, and wanted to offer it to me at MSRP. It has a few more options that raise the price, is a color I don't want, and would be available immediately (I'm sure end-of-month inventory is factoring in). In my case, I'm in no rush and actually prefer a delivery later in the spring. So I passed.

But they were pushing pretty hard. Makes the days of $30K over MSRP seem pretty silly now.
In August, i sold my wife's minivan for the same price I bought it for three years prior. I just looked up the going rate and it's $9k (38%) less 5 months later. So used car prices definitely tanking. I don't think we will see msrp drops across the board for new cars, just better rebates, incentives and financing promotions. I do like when they offer say promo 2.9% financing, but they have to make them for longer terms like 60 months not just 36.

BTW, my local dealership still hasn't sold their SR XLT mannequin. I didn't ask if they have a markup on it, but they buried it far out in their lot between 10 or so ICE f150s and it sits unnoticed. It used to be up front but was moved to make room for Broncos.

So many of these dealers just don't know what they have, or just don't want to embrace the EV. They have one on their lot because Ford made them buy it. True enough they also see it eating into their ability to control the narrative and screw the customer just as hard as they have over the years.

Did you ask about the Lariat. They told me no mark up on it. The Pro model was a custom truck, so of course they will charge more for it.
