I used it a fair bit for sports. There are work arounds for that now. I can usually find an online broadcast that I can stream from my phone.

They immediately mention the emergency alert broadcast system but there are so many other forms of communication now. It will still be in some vehicles, specifically commercial vehicles.

Interesting mention about noise from the motors/electrical system being a problem, I haven't tried AM in the truck yet but sports are about the only thing I use it for and only a couple times a year.

I haven't listened to AM in decades. For the longest time, I listened to FM. I switched to SiriusXM 8 years ago and never looked back.

Your profile says you have a 2023 model. When you go to try AM radio, it won’t be there.

1110 KFAB in Omaha, Nebraska is pretty much required listening for traffic and news while we were stationed at Offutt AFB. It is apparently one of the most powerful stations in the country - operating at 50kW and can sometimes be heard in half of North America..

There's an AM station in town that plays 40's, 50's, & 60's pop. Music that was originally made for AM broadcast. Very nostalgic.

when I get tired of the AM whine and narrow frequency band, I switch to FM.

I've found it to be handy when driving long distance - I can listen to whatever I tune to for much, much greater distances before it fades out. Sometimes I can pick up Chicago stations, while traveling in Arkansas!

FM won't travel across the state to be receivable in the QuadCities area. AM can be received quite clearly at this distance.

I don’t unless I feel like I have to. Once there was no communication coming into my town where I live. Literally everyone holding up their phones and looking at them in Safeway. Hours went by and relative never showed up for a planned visit, so I turned it on to make sure everything was okay in the rest of the world.

Turned out a garbage truck backed into the main fiber network in Carson City and took it out. I feel we should always have it available to us.
