*Edit* - I just found out this morning that the noise happens when the AC is on but the cabin has reached the set point. So, for example, if I set the AC to something lower than ambient temp (like 68) then there is no noise. However, if I set it higher than ambient temp (78F) then the noise happens. So noise only occurs for me when AC is on standby seemingly.

*OP*

Trying to figure out if this is a normal noise or not. While I've got the AC on in my truck sometimes there's a low-pitched, audible humming/buzzing noise. Almost sounds like listening to a gas leaf blower far away in the distance.

It doesn't happen all the time, and seems fan speed agnostic too. If I press the AC button off it remains, but if I shut off climate control entirely by pressing in the knob it goes away (XLT so I'm talking physical buttons). Anyone else getting this?

I've not owned a truck before so maybe it's normal, but in our Kia EV6 I only hear the rush of air from the fans while the AC is running.

I do have the same loud noise everytime I turn on the AC especially during hot weather. I notice after 5-10 mins of driving that noise will be gone. I haven’t brought it to the dealer but it’s pretty loud from inside and outside.

Sounds like the compressor but it's definitely louder then mine. Probably a loose or over tightend gromet/ vibration isolator. This type of nvh repair is hard to deal with. I feel the dealers never take them serious.

AC compressor. They're noisy. My MME's is noisier than my PB's

Ford changed the MME's logic so that it doesn't even run full speed while stopped to try and hide it. As I speed up it ramps up in speed, as I slow down it slows down. 100% due to being noisy as hell. I need to find out which HVAC update changed it so I can roll it back. I'd rather have performance vs an attempt to quiet it down.

This week has been super hot, and I used the remote start on my phone while parked in the sun. Got that noise too. So loud I though the neighbors would wonder what was going on. I supposed it was the truck just super cooling itself. It stopped once I started going for a bit - assuming airflow cooled it down.

Mine is also noisy and periodically vibrates. I felt it in the steering wheel while stopped. I've also noticed the passenger ventilated seats causes it to vibrate. Enough so friends asked if they were massage seats.

it's a combination of the FANS and the COMPRESSOR, generally for the cabin air conditioning, although these sounds will also happen when first turning the truck ON, if the battery is already at a high temperature, or the outside temps are high... but, it may also go off fairly soon after turning the truck ON, if you wait patiently.

Yes, and especially when DC Fast Charging, the front FAN, providing cooling to the battery, can get very loud.

There is also the buzz/humm coming from the front, as well, which I tend to think is more about the Inverter/Converter than anything else... but the a/c compressor could very well be making that noise, as well.

I was trying to upload a video, but it keeps failing after the upload is complete (" Oops! We ran into some problems. ") so I'll just share it through onedrive.

Mine have has been making a grinding noise (starts 20s into the video) and is definitely in sync with the interior fan speed (the rest of the wind noise is the battery fans). I haven't heard it in the past as it is softened in the cabin, but with the windows down it's fairly loud (much louder than the spaceship humming below 20mph).
It comes and goes, so I haven't quite figured out if it's temperature / heat related or what.

Sounds kinda similar @mr.Magoo , but our reproduction steps to produce the noise are different I think.

Mine was doing the exact same noise when my AC blower stopped working. They changed the blower and that noise is still present. I even started a new Lightning on the lot to check and I can confirm it did the exact same noise....it's very strange.

Interesting, just narrowing features and functionality of the cooling circuits, your truck has the unified system, the AC compressor services the cabin HVAC and the chiller loop for the battery conditioning, I wonder if the diverter valve changes position and the glycol coolant pump switches on, maybe harmonics/vibration in the valve or fluid pump cutting in and based on cabin cooling needs.

I have the ER with max-tow, I'll listen to mine next time I drive it.

Right now I'm doing a hot weather charging test regarding another thread.
