The question will be which vehicle was the source of the fire? While unfortunate for the home owner that this happened (and fortunate that the fire dept. was able to protect the home), my hope is that the source was not the Lightning.

Based on the fact that the lightning was more engulfed in the fire compared to the tesla, I’m thinking the fire started with the lightning.

We will know the source once the fire marshal issues its report. Unfortunately, this is not limited to Ford or Tesla. There was a recent fire in Florida where an electric service loaner parked in a customer’s garage caught fire and took the house with it. My understanding is that the car was not plugged in since the customer owned a gas powered Mercedes.

Tesla catches fire. Wind pushes flames towards Lightning, tire catches fire, Lightning more engulfed.

Looks like it was the Lightning.

However, did this homeowner have two different Level 2 chargers and both were plugged in? That would be a unique scenario.

Does the South Korean company SK Innovation Co. still make all the Lightning batteries?

I thought Ford was going to do a Joint Venture with CATL eventually?

I sense eventually a lot of companies will go to a LFP chemistry for their batteries which have been shown to be more stable. However it means lower range.

Homeowner used extension cord...

Silly to speculate when no one knows facts.

Not unique at all. We plug our Tesla and our Lightning in every night and both charge during our utility’s off-peak night hours. One starts at 11 and one at 11:15.

I agree, not unique. At 9PM our EVSEs turn on. We go from somewhere between 0.5kWh to 2kWh up to 15kwh or 16kWh for an hour or two. Depending on when someone gets home, if later than 9pm there will be a jump to 7.5 or 8, then 15, then back to 7.5. If someone has multiple EVs it is not unreasonable to have multiple EVSEs and with off peak charging they will get charged at the same time. Usually we charge/park in the garage, but we are doing some home renovations and the lightning's side of the garage is occupied by other stuff so it gets to charge outside (sharing a plug with the Volvo phev).

After going through the Bolt saga, I am parking where I want to and not worrying about battery fires. Volvo phev 10kWh (outside next to garage), Volvo xc40 EV 78kWh (garage bay 1), lightning ER 145kWh (garage bay 2), powerwallx2 27kWh (basement). I have a lot of lithium ion batteries around my house. I have smoke detectors and pay my insurance premium annually.
