looks like the Tesla pack never ignited didn't need to use much water to put that out. The grill is a puzzler as it looks like a trunk but the lighting grill would have melted pretty quickly.

So correct me if I am wrong, maybe I have heard too much of the propaganda against EVs but I thought an EV battery fire was fairly difficult to put out. From the video it seems like they got it handled and the actual fire put out fairly quickly.

It really confusing because they look like Platinum wheels but no one has come to the forums to say their truck burned, grill is a mystery or is it the lower bumper?

That wheel has a 6-lug pattern. All the the jeep images I can find have 5 lugs. The wheels in the video look very much like a Lightning Platinum's wheels.

You are correct it generally is more difficult because when you have an EV battery thermal runway, the chemical reaction driving the fire is not dependent on ambient oxygen to burn, so traditional firefighting methods aimed at oxygen starvation are ineffective. However, a sufficiently large amount of water can *cool* the battery enough to stop the thermal runaway, which is it appears to be more difficult to extinguish since it needs more water resources.

I read the article, which states one is a pickup and it is definitely not a R1T, so it is a Lightning. The picture shows the Tesla is plugged in and the article states one vehicle was still plugged into a charger.

I charge my Lightning in my driveway and use a 50 amp, 15 ft, 240V extension cord to have my Level 2 GrizzlE near the door. (Can't fit the Lightning in the garage where I used to charge an MMe). Extension cord doesn't heat up much - warm, but not hot like some fear.

Could it have been an ICE F-150 with a hybrid battery? That grill just looks weird

I’m wondering if the underneath the plastic of the lightning grill is the metal structural part that we are seeing once the plastic melts off.

I heard it was caused by too many EV batteries concentrated in one spot during a lightning storm, increasing the conductivity of the surrounding air molecules which then attracts the lightning discharge to the vehicles. o_O :p
