My MME is perfect. I wish to discuss my fears with other members here about the Lightning. (No more fears.)

I too own both an MME (since July 2022) and a Lightning (since January 2023) and neither vehicle has needed a trip to the dealer. Both have been extremely reliable. Some software glitches were ironed out earlier in the ownership of each but in each case for both the MME and Lightning, it was resolved with updates over the air (ie. software glitches). Every platform has its exceptions and challenges but I expect this platform is as stable as any new platform and given they are moving into year 3 of production, most of the early production issues will have been resolved by now.

Not saying it won't happen to you, but most of us have had reliable trucks. There is no need to mention a perfectly operating truck on the forums except in a question like yours ;-)

To be fair, the modem on my Lightning hung up on an update early in my ownership. I had scheduled a trip to the dealer to resolve it and ended up pulling fuse 32 after reading the helpful stuff on this forum. The modem reset on reinstalling the fuse and I canceled my dealer appointment.

There is no other truck I'd rather be driving.

All things considered, I would likely purchase my Lightning again ... with one exception. I have suffered permanent hearing loss and tinnitus due to an extreme noise audio event with the B&O sound system. Fortunately for others, those occurrences are relatively rare. They also occur in ICE vehicles. I am extremely disappointed that Ford has failed to acknowledge or confirm resolution of that issue. Until it was confirmed as resolved, it would prevent me from purchasing any Ford vehicle with a B&O sound system.
I am so sorry to hear about your tinnitus. This is not going to be about the Lightning, it is about helping someone.

I have suffered tinnitus for a few years. Likely from shooting. It is a 24x7x365 issue that if you don't see a good audiologist your life will be diminished.

But good news. A good audiologist will help you determine the frequency or frequencies of your tinnitus. Hearing aids (HA) kept me from becoming a basket case because the sound is constant. Find a Costco if you can with an audiologist (not a hearing specialist) to help you. Your life will be better. If the first audiologist you see is not as helpful or understanding as you need then get a good set of HA from them and then you can travel and find the audiologist you need. The good thing about Costco is that you can get HA at any location and travel to another Costco as needed for recalibration until you find the audiologist that can help you. Do not think over-the-counter HA because they only do treble/bass. You need a good HA with many adjustable channels, etc.

I was lucky enough to find a very caring audiologist in Virginia that almost eliminated all my tinnitus issues. It can be done.

To the moderators: I'm sorry this is off topic, but critical information to the forum member.

My power goes out in Maine but I never planned to use the Lightning to address this problem. It's cheaper and more reliable to get a generator.
My point was just to hint that with all the good things people have been saying about the Lightning, the Ford backup system is a disaster that they haven't fixed and have been terrible about communicating to customers as to what's going on (last I head OTA updates to be provided for truck and FCSP sometime in the October to December 2023 timeframe with possible equipment replacement under warranty required). So, yes, I love my 2033 Lightning ER but the inoperability and lack of communication from Ford as to what's going on and when, if ever, it will be fixed send my trust towards zero for the @Ford Motor Company. Check out what other forum members who've tried the system have to say about its function.

Thank you for this information. My MME has ruined me for life from getting another ICE. When we go out in the MME my wife and I argue about who will drive. I am 100% in Whisper mode and that seems just fine to me. The feeling of power when you merge into traffic silently and feeling the push of the motors is awesome and does not go away with time.

I was just at my dealer this morning for an oil change on my wife's car. Dealer has had a Lariat ER and Platinum on their lot for some time. Salesman told me they reduced the price of the Platinum by about $10k. Before you buy a used one, check around to see what price dealers are offering on new ones

Internet, not much unlike the media, is a giant cesspool of clickbaits and negativity.
There's probably a 1:100 (at least) ratio of good to bad news, not because the world is pure evil and the streets are lined with broken down Lightnings, no, simply because it sells and people like to vent.

Take myself for example, in general I'm quite happy with my truck, nothing wrong with it except that it's a bit boring (I'm sorry, I just love the smell of gasoline and the sound of a rowdy engine).
Did I make a post (well, technically I just did) about how great it is and that I truly like it - nope.
Did I make a post whining about my GPS thinking I was driving around in Lake St.Clair - yep.

So I'd take the internet with a huge grain of salt and if you like your Mach-E, I'm sure you'll love your Lightning !
thank you for taking the time to post. I'm happy with all the help.

Good information. Thank you. When I first started looking the Platinum was 100K and then most dealerships had a mark-up.

Now I see many for under 90K which is not cheap but worth every penny I'm now thinking.

Not going for gas, accept occasionally in the one ICE we own is 'priceless.'

I’m low mileage compared to many of the others who have already posted sitting on about 13k after 14mths of ownership. So far so good, no issues of any consequence.

I have owned my 2022 MME premium ER for a year and 7,000 miles. Perfect in every way. (OK, a bit bouncy on rough pavement, but reliable in every way.)

I'm 67 years old. I bi-weekly travel from Virginia to Delaware using some rural roads and across heavily traveled bridge that is miles long.

So here is my concern. I need a truck as reliable as my MME and I'm a bit worried about things I read on this forum about the Lightning.

I want so badly to buy a Lightning Platinum, but I see a lot of people with "it bricked on me today" and other "now it is driveway art."

All I want to do is travel during the late evening and night with confidence my wife, grandchildren and I will be safe in a reliable truck.

I hope members will help me out with a meaningful discussion that I'm sure almost everyone here can provide.

Here is one thing that concerns me. I almost bought a Platinum a few months ago at a dealership. It was bought quickly as I was discussing at home with my wife so I missed out. I saw a week or so ago that the dealer is selling it now as 1-owner used after less than four months. Carfax says " HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY MODULE REPLACEMENT " so I guess it "bricked' on the first owner, but I could be 100% wrong.

I thank you in advance for your thoughts to help me.
Your drives may be fine for the Lightning in suburban / rural driving.

I live in a congested city (Los Angeles) and it's tough to negotiate / maneuver the Lightning.

Hate the U turns, parking spaces, parallel parking, narrow streets, and abrupt stop/go traffic driving.

After a year of no issues - been perfect since day 1, traded in my '22 Lightning for a more practical MME.

For me, living in an urban setting, the MME is a perfect fit.

YMMV

I know exactly what you are talking about. MME is great get around town, but for a 3 hour drive of highway and then rural areas the Lightning is great.
