Tom Moloughney’s latest 15k-Mile Lightning review video (“State of Charge” Youtube channel) included his appreciation of Ford adding current SOC to the instrument cluster via OTA update (10:48 in the video):
Ford F-150 Lightning SOC Display in Instrument Cluster? IMG_4559

Other posters in this forum announced receiving this significant feature in an OTA update back in July. However, my truck (‘23 XLT 312 SR) still doesn’t have it, and this week I looked at two new trucks on dealer lots (a Lariat and an XLT, both built this Fall) that don’t have it either. As a matter of fact, I’ve never seen it other than on the Internet, and never met another Lightning owner who didn’t still have the unchanging “100%” SOC in the instrument cluster.
Just wondering, to you who have received this feature, are you part of an “early updates” group? Or, was it on your truck, as-delivered? And, for you FDRS wizards, is there a specific FDRS update number that, if performed, can add this feature?
Of all the OTA updates I’ve read about, this is the feature I’m most anxiously waiting for. How about you- do you have it, or still waiting?

I am not in the early adopters program. And yes it came down to my 2022 Lariat ER via an OTA. Don’t recall the specific one.

Interesting. I would have expected that software updates in an OTA back in July would have become “standard issue” in Lightnings by now. Yours is consistent with the two new trucks I checked on dealer lots.

Bought my '23 Lariat ER 2 weeks ago. I do not have the SOC on my dash either.

So far, I haven’t heard of anyone with a 2023 MY who has this update, only 2022 (including Tom Moloughney).

I have it and am part of EAP. However, this change came with the chime update. Some of these trucks might not have updates yet.

I have it on my 23. Dealer did the update when I had it in for a flat tire repair.

Just curious: is yours a ‘22 or ‘23? And I can’t help wondering, if the chime volume update was done as a safety improvement, why hasn’t it (along with numeric SOC) appeared on new production trucks? I wish Ford could be a little more transparent about the OTA updates process, or at least have an overall “Powerup software version” that could be displayed….

I have a 22 ext range Lariat and not on EAP. I received it on one of the 6. updates.

Nice to know! Do you know specifically what your dealer updated for you, in FDRS? It would almost be worth making a flat tire, to get the SOC display update! ;)
My dealer reluctantly responded to my request for general FDRS updates of modules, beginning with gateway modules, etc. Two days in the shop, 3hrs of $shop labor, but no perceivable differences anywhere. (I even still have the problem with “This Trip” odometer not resetting, though the applicable TSB procedure was performed. Weird.)

I don’t know exactly. When I made the appointment for the tire, I asked them to check for updates (I knew this SoC improvement was starting to appear) and they obliged. Gauging from chatter in these forums, most dealers won’t do that. I happen to have a dealer that believes in customer service.

I am not a member of the testing group.

If you had your truck when the following update was issued circa 7/12/2023 ++ and was not having issues receiving it then it would have brought you the numeric SOC value on the graph in the trip meter screens.

Thanks for your post; I’m familiar with that thread. For the record, in 6mos/8k, I’ve never received an OTA. I’ve reached out to dealer, also to Ford In-Vehicle-Tech team, who provided a case number but said to work with my dealer. I received some kind assistance on this forum from Mike G, who put my VIN in FDRS and identified applicable gateway and module updates (my dealer had told me there were none). After providing the details to my dealer, he agreed to perform the indicated updates through FDRS; the work was performed (?) with no noticeable results. I attributed my lack of the chime update to the lack of OTA updates, and assumed if I could solve the OTA problem, all would be resolved.
However, when I checked the new trucks and found the old SOC display, and other members with newer-production trucks posted that they don’t have the new SOC display either, I wondered if for some reason this update cannot be applied to all trucks.

This is correct, I think my previous post on getting it in the 6. series was wrong. I received it prior to the 6. updates.
