That's interesting, recently a few folks had seen the SOC digits after receiving 6.8.0, maybe this has been split out of the latest version????
How is it so unbelievably difficult to display a SoC number on the IP for Ford? And why wasn't this included from the very start? Seems Ford is employing monkeys to do their testing and feedback to miss such an obvious thing that almost all EV drivers want to see. And if the driver doesn't want it, just make it toggleable in the infotainment system. It's so easy.

You aren't wrong, but they aren't Tesla.

I'm sure you're already aware, it is available on other screens like the "Calm screen mode".

So they 100% knew how to do it, just a poor design decision to leave it off.

It is on an update that's slowly rolling out though.

Looking at their way of thinking, a gas gauge doesn't tell you how many gallons you have left, it tells you roughly what fraction of the tank remains. The SOC gauge (pre-update) on our screen tells us the same thing, even has tick marks for 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4. I think this is just a continuation of Ford being ICE focused. They didn't show it, because by their reckoning, people didn't want it, same reason they don't really care that their GOM is terrible. DTE calculations in ICE are equally inaccurate.

Unfortunately due to the lack of high speed charging infrastructure, EV drivers are far more concerned with exactly how much charge is in the battery, and need more accurate range estimates. Ford is at least recognizing the SOC, and improving that with an OTA. I don't fault them for not predicting the desire by owners as long as they use the OTAs to fix it in a timely manner, and across the board. I do fault them for the terrible OTA plan and how owners have little to no control over trying again, and dealers DGAF about an already sold car being updated.

They really need to give us some options. I don't GAF about Ford's guess on how much range I have left. ALL I want to know is battery percentage - that's solid and real. If I could, I'd hide every reference to range everywhere and just view battery pct., but Ford gives no way to do that. That's how I did it on my Tesla, and I'm annoyed at having range in my face all the time. Yeah, I get that not everyone is like me, which is why I suggest they give options. I feel like everyone would be far better off w/o knowing Ford's guess at range, but that's just me.

What you want is there, it's just not shown as a number. The right half of the gauge on the left is the battery % you can look at that and know roughly what your SOC is. I'd prefer the actual %, it requires less thought, but what I have is OK till the update comes in.

Not quite. They give me pct, but they ALWAYS shove range in there too, they can't help themselves. Even in the "calm" screen they show range. I don't want range anywhere. Can I live with it? Of course, but I really, really, really don't want to see it. It's the biggest cause of range anxiety for me...and the cause of a lot of newbie questions. "It said I could go XXX miles, but I went YY miles and only had Z miles left!"

I'd be fine with the "gas guage" w/o pct listed as a number. That's not my point. I'm just (fake) range averse.
