Just curious: is yours a ‘22 or ‘23? And I can’t help wondering, if the chime volume update was done as a safety improvement, why hasn’t it (along with numeric SOC) appeared on new production trucks? I wish Ford could be a little more transparent about the OTA updates process, or at least have an overall “Powerup software version” that could be displayed….

My 23 XLT does not have it either but I have received the recent 6.0 or whatever it is update. Have always thought it strange. Kinda like the driver profile stuff we XLTers have never gotten.

I could understand if there were exclusions for display changes to Sync4 (12” screen) vs Sync4A (15” screen), or possibly, for charge-curve changes to SR vs. ER. But updates to the instrument cluster, or behind-the-screens things like the driver profile stuff you mention, seem applicable to all Lightnings, regardless of trim level, battery size, or model year.

I wondered if for some reason this update cannot be applied to all trucks.
The window of opportunity has closed for that update.

My hope is that FoMoCo has a catch up strategy for the end of the year or when a major update is issued to bring everyone to a uniform level of functionality.

Tom Moloughney’s latest 15k-Mile Lightning review video (“State of Charge” Youtube channel) included his appreciation of Ford adding current SOC to the instrument cluster via OTA update (10:48 in the video):
IMG_4559.jpeg

Other posters in this forum announced receiving this significant feature in an OTA update back in July. However, my truck (‘23 XLT 312 SR) still doesn’t have it, and this week I looked at two new trucks on dealer lots (a Lariat and an XLT, both built this Fall) that don’t have it either. As a matter of fact, I’ve never seen it other than on the Internet, and never met another Lightning owner who didn’t still have the unchanging “100%” SOC in the instrument cluster.
Just wondering, to you who have received this feature, are you part of an “early updates” group? Or, was it on your truck, as-delivered? And, for you FDRS wizards, is there a specific FDRS update number that, if performed, can add this feature?
Of all the OTA updates I’ve read about, this is the feature I’m most anxiously waiting for. How about you- do you have it, or still waiting?
I have it on my truck got it around late July/August timeframe. Not a part of the early updates group and it was delivered post deliver via OTA

I got the OTA on my ‘22 back in July but have not received any OTAs on my ‘23 yet so I am definitely missing easy access to the SOC

For reference I have a '22 Lariat ER. I received Priority Update 22-PU0930-RBA-CHM on July 13, 2023. It included the update frunk chime volume increase and the new % indicator added to the Instrument Panel.

The update that brought this was an IPM - Instrument Panel update. I think your hope is that another IPM is put out soon that is inclusive of previous updates (come on Ford, that only makes sense they would be inclusive of all prior updates).

I am signed up for Early Access, but I've never been included in any special Early Access Programs, such as testing Blue Cruise, or others. My Ford Early Access screen does note that I may be included on early roll out of software updates.

Wow, that’s an interesting datapoint: same customer, two trucks; got the update on your ‘22 but not on your ‘23! I’m beginning to think my non-updated ‘23 is not an anomaly, but part of a large group of trucks that for whatever reason, Ford is choosing not to update.

I’ve only had the ‘23 for a couple of weeks so I’m holding out hope that updates will start rolling in but I’ll admit I’m not confident.

Thanks for your detailed reply- seems like a lot more ‘22s got the update to the IPM than ‘23s, including trucks just produced but lacking the SOC % in the instrument cluster. (??)
And I agree with you- one would think that software for these modules would be cumulative, that the current version would be the sum of all previous updates. And, given enough time for OTA updates to be pushed to all trucks, all Lightnings on the road would be running the same software. I would have thought 4 months (since July “Chime Volume/%SOC” update) would have been ample time to accomplish that.

Thanks for raising that question- that’s probably the most good that can come from this thread.
Because they might be required to use the certified base line, maybe because of government regulation.

I had multiple failed updates in July, but it always said it would try again, then later in July it had a successful one. I figured that meant all was good, but now I wonder if one failed permanently.

23 Lariat no SOC and I just did updates for all modules listed for my truck using FDRS.

As others have said, it is not logical that updates for these trucks are not cumulative, meaning there are thousands of trucks out there with potentially hundreds of different software versions in the same modules. Huh?
