There is some encouraging news on the horizon. The reports are that for Software 6.13 on the Mach E (and I would have hoped for the Lightning) that the DC to DC converter kicked in and stayed on during the install. This could alleviate the 12v low SOC issues for installs.

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-facing-camera-improvements.32310/post-725048
That, of course, would make sense. MME is coming up on the 4th MY and it took them this long to figure it out? Would also make sense for the DC-to-DC charger to top up the 12v when the truck is plugged in. It only charges the 12v when the HVB is charging and then stops. They should not be linked - HVB should be charged to configured SOC, and independently, the 12v should be charged to 100% SOC every time it is plugged in.

I have not seen the 12V SOC displayed on the Ford.com status. The charge level in your screen shot shows the HVB SOC. Have you seen the 12V SOC?
Thatā€˜s the 12V SoC. I never charge my HVB past 80%. It was about 73% when I took that screen shot.

Thx. I got through the rest of the thread and figured it out. I agree it was probably a mistake by Ford but one that is useful to us. Would be good if they'd post both SOCs.

Yeah, I replied to your reply before I read the subsequent postsā€¦..sorry.
Iā€™d settle for a correct label on the data. I can get the HVB SoC in the truck or FordPass. I probably would never log on the the Ford website for that anyway.

Just got 6.8 about an hour ago. Both this update and 6.5 lost my FM presets, but at least on this update I can see some improvements.

So I need to share this based on the 12v SOC discussion earlier in this thread. When I sign on to my account from my phone, I see this:
Ford F-150 Lightning Power-Up OTA 6.8.0 - Smart Changes: Center Screen 2023-12-18-18.32.43.760

Absolutely no sign of the 12V SOC, hence my confusion earlier.

When I sign on to the desktop site with my laptop, I see this:
Ford F-150 Lightning Power-Up OTA 6.8.0 - Smart Changes: Center Screen 1702942876011

Charge Level is showing the 12V SOC. Amazed at the variation in information between the two devices.

Note, my 12V battery has failed this week, hence the 1% (yes it is the real number). It was a watch item for me and I expected it to fail based on the history of increasing low 12V battery messages in FordPass. Bad cell and going in for a new one on Thursday. I managed to squeeze in Powerup 6.5 with a battery charger attached before it failed hard. No more OTA updates for me this week

I invite @FordMotorCompany to share Ford's logic for displaying 12 volt battery SOC in the Account section of Ford.com, and without a data label. It is not even under the vehicle dashboard at Ford.com where a person might logically look. And it is surely not displayed in the vehicle where a driver would logically look for it.

I would have never thought to look in Ford.com under Account to find it. Maybe Ford is going to begin charging owners a fee to view 12 volt SOC, and then it would make sense to put it under Account.

I expect to soon see .... "Hi F-150 Lightning Owner! You have viewed your Ford Lightning's 12 volt SOC six times and your account balance due is $12.72."
I would think that would make a great addition to Tire Pressure under Vehicle Status in the FordPass.

Oh wait, that would make way to much sense. Never mind.

Yeah, some of the info gets stopped by the border officials probably. Either that or "Charge Level" doesn't translate to Canadian-speaking phones :ROFLMAO:

Is this on a lightening? I may have a 12v battery issue on my 2023 lightening that is preventing me from doing OTA updates thus wondering if Ford has a known or (unknown) battery issues

Yes, Lightning. Yes, there are a couple of threads on this forum regarding the 12v battery. The small 12V battery and Ford's charging strategy are inadequate for its purpose for folks who do not drive an hour or more daily. The 12v battery spends much of its time between 50%-80% SOC which is not ideal for an AGM battery and can cause premature failure like in my case (and many others).

Here is a 12v health check that may give you some insight:
  • Sign on to Ford.com and check your LVB SOC (I learned this today from the great folks on this forum). It should be above 50%.
  • Turn the truck on for an hour and then check the 12v SOC again on Ford.com. It should be 100% or close to it. If it doesn't get to 100% in 1-1.5 hours you may have an issue with the health of the 12v battery or the BMS may be out of whack (there are instructions on this forum regarding resetting the BMS)
  • Let the truck sit off for an hour and check the SOC again on Ford.com. A healthy battery should be above 90% after an hour (probably 95% or so)
  • Let the truck sit off for an additional 6-8 hours (not plugged in) and check the SOC again on Ford.com. A healthy battery should lose no more than about 10%-15% during the 6-8 hours so it should be around 75%-80% or more (assuming you have no aftermarket devices sucking on it)

Iā€™ve been trying to update for 2 days.. had to call Ford and they said itā€™s seeing issues with my 12v battery and it typically takes 10 tries (for some reason) to updateā€¦
How would you like to have a job in customer service / technical support where you have to instruct the customers that their high-tech $60,000 to $100,000 "computer" typically takes 10 tries for it to successfully update its software? Even Microsoft does way better than that for a $500 laptop.

This has got to be the weirdest false equivalency I've ever heard. I mean, I get the outrage over updates for such an expensive product (regardless of what the product is) but calling a vehicle with several interconnected parts with individual processors a "computer" and comparing it to windows and a laptop is so far off the mark I wouldn't know where to start.
