Front LED Ford Emblem

Looking at installing the Front LED emblem on my Lariat. 2 questions:

1- I would like to use my Fordpass points, has anyone been successful doing this in combination with the promo codes on the Ford website? Which is the best site to do this?

2- Does the OEM Ford do the light up sequence? Seems like I saw someone where you have to cut or solder some where to get it to do this but I am not sure where I saw this.

There is a green wire that is cut in the wire loom. If you solder it back together, you get the startup sequence.

I haven't seen where anybody was able to use promotions along with FordPass points on the online site. I ordered from my local dealership.

I was able to use the promo and my points when I got my all weather floor mats, right after they started allowing it to happen. I don't recall exactly, but I think when I got to the payment screen it gave me the option to use the points.

I got that far when I was ordering my LED front emblem. When I looked, the "promo" price wasn't reflected with the number of points I was being charged. That's why I went with my dealership. Same number of points and they could get it faster than having it shipped.

Wonder what Ford’s purpose was for doing that.

Maybe Putco wanted the routine exclusive to their product and it was cheaper to defeat the startup sequence than manufacture a separate part.

As usual, for some reason Ford Accessories always say it doesn't fit my truck.

Anyone else have this issue with their Lightnings? It seems my particular VIN has no parts available for it.

Your model might be too new.

Just be aware, this is the emblem used with the front camera.

Interesting... I recall losing a 20% discount and having to settle for 15% because I had to wait for them to allow the promo and points to process in the same order... this was in early February.

I have ordered from accessories.ford.com twice, both times using points, both times getting the offered discount, and both times not paying sales tax due to using point.

Reviving a old thread but has anyone done this recently? I believe there is a newer part, https://accessories.ford.com/lighte...or-for-vehicles-with-front-camera-vml3z8a224g, on the verge of ordering it. It also cheaper than the older version.

I did it.....looks awesome! For some reason the part that coms from Ford has the green wire cut in the loom, so you do not get the animation .......glad I read about this BEFORE I installed. I connected that broken wire, and it does the animation which looks really good.

Another thing someone told me is that it causes the radio to have static. This may be true, but can not confirm, becuase I also shortened my antennae. I normally use the radio station app anyway so it does not matter.
