Friends - My Wife and I have a couple of dachshunds we like to take with us on trips when visiting family.
I've been searching the web, but I can't seem to find specific interior dimensions to see if our dog crate will fit in the second row. Does anyone know or have measurements for how deep the 2nd row is? I've included an image for what I've been looking for:

Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning dimension for 2nd row 1708328437955

I'm pretty sure our current crate won't fit on the floor with the seat folded up, so placing it on the seat would be the next option.

Thanks!

On the floor with the seat folded up, I can fit a 26” cooler in there. If nobody has it I can grab a measuring tape tomorrow.

sw engineering manager,
Depends on how far the front seats are pushed back and reclined.
The rear leg room number of 43.6 inches in the chart above would be measured with the front leg room set to 40 inches. Not sure if that is where you like your seat - its kind of an average position.

"Rear leg room is the horizontal distance between the rear and front seatback, with front leg room set at 40 inches."

Also, even if the seats are kept far enough forward, the center console could become the limiting factor.

Appreciate the information. My Wife and I don't have a solid timeline yet on when we're planning to buy our first EV, but it will likely be before the end of 2025. The Lincoln MKC we currently use doesn't really have enough room for us + dogs + suitcases + beach gear, which makes for uncomfortable trips (especially since we typically drive ~800 miles one way).

I have a spreadsheet where I've been tracking the upcoming EV Trucks, so we can make the best informed decision when the time comes. We're currently looking at: F-150 Lightning, RAM 1500 REV, Chevy Silverado EV, Rivian R1T and Cybertruck.

Biggest factor for us is comfort for us + dogs and the efficiency of the truck to reduce charge time, which I have calculated based on each truck (number of times we'd need to charge and how long each stop would take). Of course, I can only be so accurate since a couple of those trucks haven't been released yet.

A fellow engineer, a spreadsheet will always show the way! Good luck with your search. The storage in the Lightning is exceptional, but other categories not so much. Charging and batteries will always change, but storage is fixed at time of purchase.

Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning dimension for 2nd row 1708360301799

measured half way up the front seat back to account for height of your dog carrier. I'm 6' tall but the seat could move forward a few inches if it's not too long a trip. hope that helps.

Perfect - I'm 5'11", so just about the same height. Looks like our crate will fit (it's 22.25" wide x 24.50" tall x 36" long).

The storage space being fixed is a good point; it's actually one of the main issues I have against the Cybertruck (looks too), but function & capability beats out looks for me - that and price, haha.
I'd prefer the MSRP be under the $80,000 limit, so I can take advantage of the full $7,500 EV tax credit.

I appreciate all the helpful information!

Not sure on new Ram bit this back seat fold up and flat floor is way better for our dogs large crate.

800 miles is a drive and you may want to be very sure about charging options along the way and at destination.

I've done plenty of 800 mile drives and it's been far easier than I anticipated....except through South Carolina. I hate going through SC with an EV...

100% agree with you on this. That's another reason why the Cybertruck has been higher on our list; they have a great charging network that extends to where both of our families live. Of course, Ford and Stellantis announcing they are picking up the Tesla charger format will help alleviate that issue; we'd just have to pay Tesla to use their network.

Stellantis has said they are adopting NACS. They don't currently have a deal to use the Supercharger network.
