So I got notified early this morning that my A2Z adapter shipped via UPS. I believe they ship from Montreal, so it may take a bit to arrive. Right now the tracking number just says label created.
I ordered one yesterday morning, hoping to get it before the end of the month. It would make the trip from central Florida to San Antonio for the eclipse a little easier. Thank you.šŸ˜Ž

I went ahead and ordered one as well as a destination charger adapter. I'm about to be doing some serious driving at the end of April. My Ford one won't arrive until May. At the same time, I figure having a back up is always a smart idea.

I got notified yesterday and am showing Friday arrival.

I ordered 7 weeks ago, though, so not sure if they just got a bunch in from production or what.

Yeah I think they did just get a production batch. I had ordered mine January 12th.

As in a Tesla Level 2 destination charger adapter? Keep in mind you need 2 different adapters for level 2 charging and tesla supercharging. They are not interchangeable. A2Z sells both. I have their 80 amp level 2 charger and it works great at local destination chargers. I also ordered the DCFC adapter 2 days ago. I hope I get it within the next month.

I ordered mine last night. My Ford adapter won't ship until July.

Yah, I got both the DC and AC adapter since they don't work for both. Keeping my options open.

I charged my Lightning on March 1st at the Supercharger station in Tulsa. I had already updated the software and received an A2Z adaptor (the free Ford one is also on order). It was flawless and seamless. There were two other Lightning owners there, waiting for one of their friends who was going to charge his Tesla while they were at lunch. I gathered quite a crowd around - both Lightning and Tesla owners - and was so glad it went off without a hitch. One of the other Lightning owners asked if he could use my adaptor and it also worked like it should.

I was already over 80%, so the charging rate was only 59 kWh. I knew that had to be a function of the 80% throttle, so I intentionally didn't plug the truck in all weekend and went back on March 5th. Again, it was seamless; totally plug and play. The initial rate was 163 kWh, which was great. After about 15 minutes, it dropped down to about 121 kWh and then to 63 kWh when it hit 80%.

We're getting ready to make a round trip to DC and back to Tulsa. This will be the third round trip in the Lightning. The first two, we loved the truck but were "challenged" in the charging department. I am really excited about the addition of the Tesla Superchargers. This should be a game changer. My plan is to filter for the Superchargers all the way and only use the other stations when necessary.

Iā€™m glad I got the A2Z adapter, even though I had to pay for it. One, Iā€™m getting to use it from day one. Two, itā€™ll be nice to have a back up adapter.

Thatā€™s kind of a funny coincidence. I ordered my A2Z adapter last Friday because of a planned trip from Minnesota to San Antonio for the eclipse. I have some good friends who live down there, and this is a great excuse to come and visit.

Not sure if itā€™ll arrive in time, but the A2Z page said 14-20 days. Iā€™ll probably cancel if it doesnā€™t ship in time for my trip.

I talked to a guy in customer service before I placed my order and he said there was a good chance it would ship before the end of the month.šŸ¤ž
You really donā€™t want to miss totality, saw the 2017 eclipse in Columbia, SC.
It was breathtaking.
Good luck to you

They seem to be shipping now at a good clip, but don't forget they're coming from Canada and have to clear customs on the way in. Mine is taking a full week to arrive after shipping.

I would seriously reconsider relying on an EV in Texas during the eclipse. Most towns within totality are already declaring public disasters. Their populations will be doubling or more. Between Dallas and Austin there are only a few DCFC and I predict long waits. Even regular gas stations may be overwhelmed at times along the the major roads.

Worse, we are in Dallas but if it's going to be cloudy here we and 10's of thousands others will be clogging I-35 the day before heading to Austin or San Antonio. No way I'm taking the Lightning on that trip. We'll be in the wife's Pilot with a full tank.

If you'll be traveling several days before and not until a day or two after you might have a chance - unless it's cloudy in Dallas. ;). Otherwise, welcome to Texas!

Would tend to agree. Seems they are predicting the small towns to double in size. The only way I'd consider it in an EV would be with a Tesla adapter. We have a ton of Tesla Superchargers around Dallas now, but South onto SAT is more thin. I'd make sure to travel a day or two ahead of time or a day or two after. Definitely not the day of.

Through Oklahoma, the Ardmore SC has been extended to have v3 stations, but is not activated yet, you'll want that one activated likely for sure. Otherwise in OK you'll want an account with Francis Energy. Ford just added them to the network since Christmas, I don't know if they'll activate through Ford or you may want to ensure you have an account directly with them.

I have seen quite a few new EV Go stations pop up in Dallas, but have not tried one of them yet.

The most challenging tow Iā€™ve ever done was last October with my Model Y. I upgraded to a larger folding camper, and the 68ā€ height was a huge aero penalty compared to my old, shorter pop up. I was lucky to make 110 miles at 55 MPH in my Model Y, and I had no problems getting into San Antonio with my Model Y a few days before and after the eclipse. The timing was sheer coincidence; I didnā€™t know the eclipse was going on.

Iā€™ve got much longer legs with the Lightning, so I expect it to be fine if I have that adapter. I can charge at my friendā€™s house, so Iā€™m happy to drag it in at 5% if needed. Iā€™m really looking forward to being able to charge nose-in.

They are predicting huge numbers of people to arrive here in Vermont for the eclipse. Last year on April 8th would have been great. Typically it's cloudy that time of year. I might chuckle a little bit if it is overcast knowing how many people spent so much time and money the see an eclipse in a notoriously cloudy place. I hope they enjoy themselves otherwise, but there is talk of not being able to get out of work due to clogged roads.

I also ordered a lecton adapter. It will be a backup once the ford adapter arrives or it will go in the other EV.
