Can you precondition on roadtrips without using Ford Navigation?

I use Apple CarPlay for Nav. Does this communicate the same as using Ford Navigation when traveling to a charger as my destination? As I have come to understand- you just have to trust that the truck is preconditioning, and there is no way to manually determine if it is… or isn’t.
Took a little trip last weekend, but was only charging at ~70KW, trying to determine why so low, and if using CarPlay and Apple Maps instead of the built in navigation had anything to do with it.
Also- it was 90 degrees outside- temps on dash right in the middle.
CarPlay is aware of my battery status at all times.

My salesperson said to type the destination in via ford nav IN ADDITION TO carplay so that the car can do its thing properly. It's a workaround at least

No, the only option is to use FordNav and point it to the DCFC (or a nearby one if heading to a SC).

As far as I know you cannot have a destination programmed into two nav systems simultaneously.

I have tried - and when I do I get a notice that says "cancelling other navigation".

Hmmmm interesting, I wonder if that's a software update new thing, or a screen thing? I'm in a XLT so have the "split screen" and can run google maps in the main pane and ford nav in the subpane

I just ignore it, the few times I have used the built in Nav, I haven't noticed any appreciable difference in charging rate (maybe a minute or 2 total charging time).

PARKED :No, at least from my experience in moderate New England summer, garaged away from sun. All the energy I see is related to cabin conditioning or topping off the battery if you don't have highly restrictive TOU time windows.

DRIVING: I've haven't done much hot weather tripping, but I had great charging curve performance a few weeks ago, using Ford navigation directly to an EA station in the Berkshires.
