Sitting at home. a few minutes ago and my Lightning horn starts honking. Sounded like a theft alarm but for one, it's not locked. Two, it's in my carport just sitting there. I had to get in and start the truck before it stopped. What the #$%^%@#$%???????

I thought I had seen a thread of something similar but couldn't locate anything with a search.

Did you hit the panic button on the FOB or in the Location menu in FP?

Been thinking about that. the FOB was laying in a tray on my desk. could I have tossed something on top of it. I don't think so as I had returned from my last drive several hours before. the keys, phone and wallet hadn't been touched. But that would explain it so I guess I'll have to go with that. too weird otherwise

I've tripped the panic button numerous times with the FOB in my pocket while I've stooped down, bent over, etc. It's very sensitive to the push on that button.

yeah, and in my panic, I tried the lock, unlock button but didn't think about hitting panic button. I think that would have stopped it AND confirmed that was the trigger.

Funny that happened to me a couple of days ago!
I was around the other side of the building and heard a horn going off and wondered who was doing that then realized it was my truck-oops
I had leaned over and somehow hit the button while it was in my pocket.

Another thing it could be is the child sensor in the truck thinks there's someone still inside and goes off.

My wife's Kia once had a moth inside and it was going off over and over again at 11pm until I figured it out and got the thing out of the car!! Neighbors must have loved me that night ...

That is sometimes an indication that the LV battery has a low state of charge.

Yes, would need forscan to know for sure now, although terminal voltage could give a clue.

My 2001 Ford Ranger horn would start honking when the 12v battery was low after sitting undriven for a lengthy period during the COVID lock-down.

I used a solar dashboard charger that plugged into the cigarette lighter plug (yes it came with a cigarette lighter in those days) to keep the 12v battery topped off, but I had forgotten to plug it back in after driving somewhere.

"Low Voltage: If the voltage in the battery is too low, it can cause the car's alarm system to trigger, resulting in the horn honking. "

It is also an issue with F-150's from various posts:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1033830-horn-honking-dead-battery.html

So maybe it is part of the Lightning too?

I've done it all with the fob. Tailgate, frunk, panic, lock, unlock.

I had too much crap in my pocket with the fob.
