Automatic speed adjustment for Speed Limit Sign

I wash going down the interstate once and looked down and the dash said the speed limit was 25. I'm glad I didn't have that setting on.

I have had that a couple times. Once on the freeway in Little Rock it jumped from 70 to 45... my next trip through that stretch of freeway it happened again and I notice a 45mph sign on the service road.

I'm a little late to this chat but my 70 mile drive to the office on secondary roads has 3 areas with reduced truck speed limits due to the mountain grade. Truck sees the 25 mph truck speed as the speed limit for it, not the true passenger vehicle 45 mph limit. Without using some sort of GPS mapping, the visual reading of the signs would be a struggle to program in to keep the 45 and ignore the 25 with the added "TRUCK SPEED" sign with it.

I have never turned the feature on as I expected I would experience issues with the truck speed zones.

NOTE did some recent navigating on this same route using google maps and it has incorrect speed limits loaded for certain areas. Long stretch of 55 mph road with a 55 sign is shown on the google map screen as 25 mph so I doubt a GPS back up would not help the situtaion.

Same here, except the location (I75/696).

Plus I also find it annoying that if I set cruisecontrol to 70mph because I want to stick with the speed limit that day / time, and the adaptive is still set to 5mph +, then the next time it recognizes a speedlimit sign it accelerates to 75mph.

It would be nice if it kept the percentage you set it at, for example, it's 70 and you set it at 75 (7% over), drops to 55, truck now stays at 59, but maybe that's too complicated for todays technology.

After a couple of times using it I quit because it slowed to 55 on a 65mph highway. The drivers behind me weren't happy.

I found a new (to me) setting that changes my speed when the truck sees a speed sign. Set it to 5 mph over the speed limit sign and it does just that. I wish it was a percentage since 30 in a 25 is much different than 70 in a 65 zone. Also annoying and requires gas pedal or cruise control (+/-) override when the speed limit on a major road (N.C.) drops from 50 to 30 and then back to 50 within a couple thousand feet and traffic does not change speed. But great for avoiding missed speed limit signs.

Still have to watch it around schools. I am not sure if it does nor does not cognize school speed limit signs and correlates with time of day. Seemed a bit uneven with those when I came across some. The computer is still training me.

Another better idea from Ford. How do I turn it off? It’s problematic when it sees speed limit signs for parallel lanes (such as HOT/HOV lanes) that have a higher speed limit and all of a sudden you are zipping along at 70 in a 55 next to a state trooper.

So you have to be ready to override this feature if you use it. I had it show 80 as the speed limit and try to go to 85 in a 40 mph speed limit zone. I was on Rt. 80.

I have one road I drive with a speed limit of 35 but everyone runs at 45-50+ on it. It's nice to have adaptive cruise control on and just keep up with the line of cars and help with lane centering in the curvy lane. Sadly, there are places where the speed drops and then comes back up within a short distance. To turn off the speed limit adjustment you have to dig through a few menu layers on the nice flat screen with no touch feedback. I can easily override with the gas pedal or by hitting the + or - button of the cruise control. Just have to be alert. They really should have a button to turn it on and off quickly but independent of the other cruise control buttons. On that road I have to "fix" things multiple times.

So, if you are watching you can fix the situation quickly if you have the function on. But what is the point of all the driver assist features if you have to be all that alert?

If you think that's bad, just wait for the updated curve assist with the new Blue Cruise. Will slow down well before a curve and give you whiplash because it can't make up its mind what speed it wants to run.

I love Blue Cruise on wide gentle curves but don't trust it. I keep a finger on the steering wheel and watch for the "Resume Control" message, especially on rural highways, but even on areas where it worked previously. Just can't trust it. Sounds like the fix for "Resume Control" or "Keep hands on wheel" in curves is just as bad. I probably won't pay $800/year for it but I do enjoy it and it does make driving on highways more relaxing. Relaxed does not mean inattentive.
