I have heard others state that the only reason Tesla opened up v3 NACS Supercharger access was to get Gov't money? This is frustrating to me because I have seen no evidence or reporting of this and do not believe it to be true.

Has Tesla received Gov't money for some programs? Yes, but not for the opening of NACS V3 chargers via a bring your own adapter

Another thread on this forum this was being discussed before it was shut down for a reason I am unsure of.

Also as I thru in, NEVI is an inneffecient mess.

Since there are so many Tesla / Musk haters on this forum I would like a factual sourced based discussion (with sources) on how much TESLA has or has not gotten and how efficient they have been with that money vs other charge point operators specially for government subsidized L3 charge point operation.

Nope the admins seemingly delete them every time someone accuses Tesla of mass subsidies and it gets challenged to ensure a transparent and honest discussion. Instead of hearing the facts they claim politics, without realizing the country just voted. We don’t like censorship

So what is the whole point of this thread? If you have a hypothesis that is properly sourced, post it. Otherwise, just delete the post unless you are just raging against the machine and trying to poke people.

Not going to bother to argue. Just point out that slow does not equal wasted. State DOT's had to organize entirely new management groups, those groups had to learn what they were doing, then had to acquire data, analyse that data, figure out how much and best use of money allocated, and some states have extreme complications. After that you request submittals from various entities, then select the winners. The winners then have to commission design of construction plans. These are reviewed multiple times by various entities and utilities. Those plans are then let for bid from contractors. After bidding, selection has to be made after checking credentials, accuracy of the bid, bonding etc. THEN materials can be ordered for construction, which BTW transformers can be a 2 year wait. After all that construct has to occured, and finally the utilities hook them up when they a damn good and ready to do so. Afterwards the site has to be tested commissioned, and approved.

With this said, some "RED" states are clearly dragging their feet, but several states are beginning to activate a few sites

How do I know this. Cause I work at a job where just the design of a project can be 2 plus years and are often publicly funded. But this is what due diligence looks like. Big task such as NEVI are slow forany many reasons. Does.not guarantee success, but going to fast is a bigger problem.

FTR, I am in no way associated with any government agencies, nor utilities, nor any company associated deployment. Spelling and grammatical errors are to be expected, and I don't care. So what! If that is all you got to counter, then that is the white flag of surrender.

Our program in Oregon has been great and methodical as they are naming specific corridors they are focusing on in each round.

Most government subsidies are less efficient as they could be as they have to have oversight, RFP/RFQ processes, most have to comply with Davis-Bacon, and so on.

At the end of the day, I am okay with the government waste as we have already seen what EA has done then never really maintained, Elon having a bad day and fires his whole team, and all the start ups that didn’t make it.

Regarless if EVs become the dominant “fuel”, we know we need infrastructure especially along the highway corridors and with parameters that mean we shouldn’t have deserts and reasonably fast speeds.

Not sure your intent, but NEVi will be a great thing in another year or two.

Our community identified where we needed EV charging infrastructure 7 years ago as a response to VW’s diesel software consent decree. We went through a phenomenal amount of agreements, grant submittals based on site review, utility district review, local government reviews and we didn’t see a dime spent. The good thing is the sites were valid and maybe 10 years after something will happen. Davis Bacon—ugh $$$$.

The real interesting transition in this country was the early 1900’s and road construction as a consequence of Model T production. Unbelievably swift. The rise of fueling stations and repair facilities was chaotic. “Good Roads” campaigns appeared all over the country and resulted/created the basic core highway infrastructure until Eisenhower administration and Interstate was started.

Everyone wants Rome in a day for free.

With EVs? We’ve roads and electrical grids in place to build off of. Those of us that charge at home have it easy. Urban apartment dweller.. nope. And 2 EV car apartment families good luck & typically double nope.

OP, I dont think the Tesla/Elon hate is as widespread as you make it to be on this forum. Also, like others have said: NEVI takes time. The program is still in its infancy and with the backlog of parts, which even Tesla faces, its going to take even longer to see NEVI sites start to pop up.

Thinking about EV Charging expansion, and the money that goes with it, look back at the Rural Electrification of America, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the huge amounts of government funds to build these production plants(dams, hydro, etc), and you'll see a similar picture for us in the 'rural' areas...

No one now complains that the farmer, out 12 miles from any town, has electricity, like the rest of us.

Metro areas are always a proving ground for new technology, and DC Fast Charging, and so many Level 2 charging options, but the rural areas are not so lucky.

The farmer and their neighbors now need DC Fast Charging options, too.
A Horse eats a LOT of KWs...

there was another thread going last night in which someone was stating Tesla hate because they were incorrectly stating Tesla got all this money to open up V3 NACS access to 3rd party ev manufacturers via the NACS adapter. That thread got wiped and I have no idea why. So if I get to specific I’m sure the hand of the admin will slap me down.

1) I was trying to debate and point out that Tesla got money for Magic dock and V4 expansion as part of NEVI location awards via state specific distribution but did not get any money for opening access to previously walled garden v3 NACS chargers that can now be used with a bring your own adapter.

2) even if Tesla were nothing but swimming in all these government contracts for charging expansion they are by far the most efficient installer for tax payer dollars of any installer. So that should be celebrated.

Regarding NEVI as a whole. I believe there are less than 10 site that are live in the whole country so far. If you guys really want to be ok with that level of inefficiencies for our taxpayer dollar I can’t change your mind.

FYI. Inflation Reducation Act and as a part of it the NEVI program was signed into law on August 16, 2022. 2+ years. Less than 10 chargers.

In short...

1) its unfortunate that people state incorrect information that "they hear" but cant source regarding the subsidies that Tesla has or has not gotten

2) those same people then look the other way when our taxpayer money is being completely mishandled via NEVI

3) I feel the Admins on this forum are a bit trigger happy, to delete threads instead of allowing free debate
