Below is listed all the issues with a 2022 Lightning I am considering buying. Are issues with these trucks common? or is this just bad luck for the last guy. Selling for a good price but it's history worries me. Maybe a 2023 would be a better buy.

Damn, that's a lot of time in repair status, some of it was routine recall & CSP work, a few items regarding "Yellow Light" was related to the FCSP in a reduced charging rate, probably because the former driver manually derated the EVSE to less than 80 amp in Fordpass.

Numerous entries where the tech confirms the truck is charging fine, but the customer just does not understand his issue and never came to our forum for an education on how to operate the FCSP

Random error codes on startup happen occasionally, used as an excuse to get it into service, tech spends much time programming & reprogramming modules, not certain that it was needed.

Etc. Etc. Etc................... Cue reason to return under buyback agreement.

JMHO about the litany of service events.....

If you buy it, ask for a extended warranty.

How cheap? As far as driving it, I don’t know, but the parts on that thing gotta be worth a mint regardless. Only 1200 for a tail light assembly 🙄

$33,000, Lariat, ER, max tow.....


At first I wondered if the owner was part of the problem. but the tech often "verified concerns". Maybe all the bugs are worked out. Maybe now that every connection and fitting has been handled a few times things will start getting loose. Its a gamble for sure. just wondering if these are common issues.

OP, I don't know if you realize this, but this truck was a RAV buyback. It has over 50k miles, so bumper to bumper is gone. And, no. Those are not common issues. Looks like it's currently being ignored too.

It also currently has trouble codes set. Looks like for ABS faults. I can't see the faults in PTS, but somebody with FDRS might be able to tell you exactly what codes the truck is currently has.

Thanks for the info. I saw that it was a buyback. Not sure what issues prompted that. They said it would have a full 1 year bumper to bumper warranty as part of the sale. Odd that it would have issues after their "139 point inspection". but, they are used car salesmen.

Maybe if I got a three year 36,000 mile warranty beginning from whatever miles it has now and extended the battery warranty 50,000 miles maybe….

At first I wondered if the owner was part of the problem. but the tech often "verified concerns". Maybe all the bugs are worked out. Maybe now that every connection and fitting has been handled a few times things will start getting loose. Its a gamble for sure. just wondering if these are common issues.
i have a lariat ER max tow and only had 1 battery module that failed - then got all the recalls done at same time. So probably 3 entries over 2 years.

that list looks to me like a never ending problem-

some people hate having a loan on a car ect ect but they are selling new ones with discounts and 0% financing right now.

probably get a new lariat in the 60s with full warranty and not paying interest for 6 years seems maybe the way I would go.

That looks a lot like my trucks service history. Not gonna lie...

This one is most concerning to me. Did they fix it? It's presumably gone 3000 miles since it was last in for this.

$33k sounds cheap to me but I don't know what you can find a non-buyback '22 Lariat for. A bit of a gamble for sure.

Truck is fine, seems to have had some minor electrical problems. Everything was made worse by the customers lack of knowledge on the vehicle. Most of the line items are regular updates and recalls. Some weird gremlins in there but overall if the deal was good I'd go for it.
You never know though, a brand new vehicle can have problems too.

Damn, that's a lot of time in repair status, some of it was routine recall & CSP work, a few items regarding "Yellow Light" was related to the FCSP in a reduced charging rate, probably because the former driver manually derated the EVSE to less than 80 amp in Fordpass.

Numerous entries where the tech confirms the truck is charging fine, but the customer just does not understand his issue and never came to our forum for an education on how to operate the FCSP
I don't think that's entirely the case. The notes for the the complaint differentiate from fast chargers and slow chargers. The first one is that the fast don't work, but the slow did. Then the tech notes say no access to fast charger, charges fine on level 2. Well no sh** Sherlock, that's exactly what the customer told you. I'm not entirely convinced in the abilities of that tech.

However, I'm also confused about the 50kW Pro charger. I think the problem here was that the customer and the tech didn't know enough to properly diagnose what was going on.

I noticed that reference as well, also the "Yellow Light" I assumed owner was talking about the FCSP being derated, I see a lot of members nickname it Pro Charger and who knows what the Tech's are thinking when they read "customer states" that the service advisors wrote in the intake notes.
