All though it hasn’t happened yet, if the LVB did Need a jump, or charge… there’s two options, either empty the Frunk for access to remove the LVB panel, or risk breaking off those twist tabs and remove the fender panel revealing the remote 12vdc posts… This is a relatively easy mod that will enable quick and easy charging, or jumping without the hassle of removing anything… It’s fused with a 5A fuse, and the parts are available from Amazon. Just thought I’d share…

Nice.

I wish I could find it, but somebody on the Mach-E site did the same thing but mounted it inside the charging door. I knew I should have bookmarked it.

Well, you just never know… who knows, perhaps Ford will one day take notice!

Nice setup. I like it!

I did something similar, but it was for a trickle charging setup. I didn’t consider the potential of jump starting. 👍

Thanks, same concept… the “jump” would be one way, meaning “to” the Lightning… our mod would be incapable of providing the amperage needed to jump an ICE vehicle; only then would the factory 12vdc posts be needed.

Nice setup, I to would like to find a better solution that's rearward of the Frunk zone, if God forbid my trucks LVB goes T/U I can't open the frunk in my very confined garage space, I need a port further back or inside the cabin where I could plugin the pack.

I see your point. Pioneer74 mentioned someone in the MachE forum did one similar but installed it inside the carge port door area. I’ll take a look at mine later today… it may be possible to use that location as well, perhaps with a small panel mount unit… Would solve the DOA dilemma of the LVB. I like the way you think!

on another note: I think those 'twist-lock' cover connectors for the left and right side covers are not really needed - I would doubt that anything would change regardless of whether they are 'attached' or not... I've run without them for many thousands of miles and have had no negative effects. Even if you didn't USE these covers, nothing would change.

Had me there for a minute…Totally forgot about the manual Frunk/Hood release in the cab, so even with a DOA LVB, you can still open the hood…good to go…

I took it a step further and installed the charger right on the battery door and routed a cord to a 120v port in the front grill.
Here is the 120v port along with all of the salt crap we get in January. I installed a 1/8" ABS plate on it to make sure the plastic could handle the stress. If you do something similar, make sure you install it high enough to clear the sensor bracket behind it. The port is hardly noticeable on the truck tucked in where it is but easy to access. Saves me from shovelling the snow off the hood to access the Frunk.

Here is the charger mounted on the back of the door. 5amp Noco made for installing in a vehicle. It amazes me how much dust and crap gets in this compartment. This is less than a week driving through the crap in January and the new Noco already has a layer of crap on it. It may be better to mount it under the side covers rather than in this dirty bay. I wish @Ford Motor Company put a little more thought into how to keep this bay cleaner.

Nice set up! Question…I’m in central Texas, and salt is seldom used… are there any signs of salt induced rust/corrosion on your Lightning because of it?
