I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that they never actually built any of them. They were supposed to have a metal roof and a lower tier interior. Tesla actually just delivered the standard range plus version vehicle with some range and other features software locked.

Correct. The $35k Model 3 that they actually sold for 20 months was much better than the $35k Model 3 that they originally promised because they never actually bothered to design a metal roof or cheaper interior. But my point was that they did make a Model 3 for $35k (or $35,400, depending on when you ordered it), and did so for a while.

Yeah, I mean, even if one considers WSJ to be "liberal" relative to their personal beliefs, it's absolutely not anywhere near "as liberal and bias [sic] as you can get." There are many sources that are more liberal than WSJ.

What happened to @PungoteagueDave? All his posts in this thread disappeared. He had strong views on the equity of the EV tax credit but was drving a Tesla, had solar powered home, the kind of things more Americans should do and so few who can afford to do both do at all.

Regarding above, if you want to pay me to do a thing, I will do that thing. I believe the tax credits for my green home, solar panels at my farm, and multiple EVs are a social evil, but as a relative libertarian, and public company board member and professor at a major university who must remain within the lines, whatever reduces taxes within the law gets used. The liberal intelligentsia that created such programs would call their use a success. I would call them an unsuccessful and ineffective sop to leftist utopian thinking, and corporate welfare, but everyone has their own perspective. It has certainly put hundreds of thousands of dollars into this 1%-er's hands. And I won't even go into the further benefits bestowed on owners of farms, the dollars showered on us due to COVID "relief", etc. This is neither cynical, craven, hypocritical, nor opportunistic. Just living in the real world. Off to bicycle the East Coast Greenway from Calais Maine top Key West. Ciao.
