Went out of town for a week. Drove the truck this morning on a short 10 mile round trip drive to the gym and back with zero issues. When I went to just remote start it to park it in the garage I got the " Deep Sleep" message on Fordpass.

I get what it means, but what is the way to charge the 12V battery? I think I read on here that the 12V is not charged when the HVB is charging when plugged in.

Is the only way to get a charge up on the 12V to simply drive around town for 30 minutes or so like a conventional ICE vehicle or put a battery tender on it? I do have a trickle charger, but don't want to mess with that quite yet.

You can walk out, push the brake, push the button, and start it and walk away and the HVB will charge the LVB until auto shutdown. You can observe this using a $15 voltmeter from Amazon that plugs into the 12V power port.

ok good.. that’s what I ended up doing. I let it sit and cool off in the hot driveway for 25 mins before moving into the garage. I am surprised my earlier drive today didn’t help charge it a little bit (although it was a short drive).

You could have let it "run" in the garage. It's not like it has a gas engine.

Understood. I didn’t see the need to keep it on after moving it. Do I really need to have it on past 30 minutes to charge the 12v?

While charging, you should find it charging the 12v batt as the cooling pumps run. Is your software up to date? Ford revamped the MME that even a parasitic 12v draw w/ HVB above ~10% or greater, the DCDC turns on to charge the 12v system as needed. If the issue is persistent the 12v AGM needs replaced. Ford's AGMs, particularly from the factory are crap.

My ice F150 12Vs were crap especially in my hybrid F150. I wonder if it’s worth replacing it with something better aftermarket?
Message is gone from Ford Pass so I guess it is sufficiently charged now.

Yeah, I've got a powerboost as well, I installed an LFP aux batt and more than fixed my 12v woes. Until the logic change in the MME, my sync was continuously sleeping.

Which brand did you go with?

Once I'm off warranty or at least a few years out, I will consider switching to a deep cycle battery. Hybrid (at least toyota version) and all BEV really don't use 12v for "CCA". Think if their use more like a marine (trolling motor) or mobility (wheel chair, forklift etc). A BEV never needs lots of amps, but it is nice to have a tough battery that can handle time and discharges.

A Prius has some fancy AGM battery. Years ago, people figured out how to fit a cheap wheel chair battery in there. Its AGM too, but since the size is not proprietary like Toyota did, the mobility battery costs $65 and a proper Toyota $200. Both AGM......

My wife's Prius needed a new battery and we were shocked by the price tag - didn't know about the wheelchair battery at the time so we got soaked.
