Just wondering if anyone with a 22-23 has bc 1.4 or walk away lock? Just feeling like at this point they will never send it. Or is there a way to activate if I buy forscan

Yes, I have both. My vehicle was updated at the dealership, and then I used FORSCan to turn both on.

Ok. I’m giving up on ford. What do I need to do this? Can I buy everything and do it easily?

I have both on my 23. The dealer updated something a year ago and I got WAL. 1.4 in December.

This will never make sense to me. How everyone could have so many versions of software. Dealer updated everything for me. I don’t have it.

First - I'm going to go out on a limb and say your dealer probably told you they updated everything, but I'm guessing they really didn't. Most don't and there are many reports here how the dealer says they did and then checks behind the scenes prove they really didn't. Dealers still don't know how to use the SW or prefer to just lie to you thinking you have no way to find out any different.

Then you have to read a lot into these posts here. Since Ford won't pay the dealers to do SW updates that aren't CSP's or recalls. Very few dealers will do what a few here are reporting. Others have invested the $1K - $550 cable, $300 battery charger and SW licenses and updated the SW themselves.

WAL lock requires the BCM update which only a dealer can do (other users are locked out even in FDRS) and BC 1.4 requires other modules to be updated. Only a very select handful have received that SW OTA. Even if you do the SW manually with FDRS they require Forscan then to activate the GUI options which I don't think any Ford dealer will do because that isn't Ford SW.

If you really think you have all the SW updated via FDRS then you need to go get Forscan and someone to tell you the secret sauce for activating those two items.

I know you are right. The advisor said to me “ford won’t pay us to do updates” I got the software recall done and dealer said they did everything. Who knows what’s true

Reach out to @rugedraw in a DM with your VIN. He is very gracious with his time to help you learn what the dealer did or didn't do.

I'm not familiar with that cable, the price is good, but I think this is the one recommended for Forscan. I hope yours will work too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081VQVD3F?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2

If you get into FDRS do not go cheap on the cable, only the expensive ones work. However I did see a wireless version posted just today in another thread. It was about $300. I don't know if that user is playing with fire or if there is a new cheaper option, but just be wary of a cable that doesn't do everything FDRS truly needs.

That OBD will allow you use ForScan to turn some options on or off.

You need to get this one for FDRS which will allow you to update software.

Then you also need a 12 volt power supply that supplies 75 amps, and a Windows computer that has USB ports so that you can download FDRS and ForScan software (and purchase licenses). Also need a small USB flash drive for FDRS updates that require it.

Search for "FDRS" and "Forscan" in the forum search box for tutorials on each and much more information. Neither are easy or straightforward to use.
